Off Topic Section?

I really think these forums needs an Off Topic section. I have seen millions of posts that are totally random and have nothing to do with cards or magic or anything. For example, i saw a thread a while ago called "How tall is J Bayme?" or something like that. I dont hink threads like that should be in a general discussions section. So ya, i really suggest that an off topic section be put in these forums, so that posts with no meaning (like this one) have a place to go.

It's kinda titled General Discussion for that reason. Now if it were titled General Magic Discussion it would be different. Oh well... good idea though!

Actually the description says this:

For all general discussion related to magic and cardistry.
No discussions of Danny Garcia's nunchuck skills, legos,
pogs, or ninja related activities.

For a reason; if it said general discussion, it would be different.

I agree though, an off-topic forum would be nice; I can't see it happening anytime soon though, it's not really a priority.

Or the mods could just delete them and everyone could learn that in a magic forum nobody really cares what their favorite sports team is.

Could you site a statistic on that?

And if the off-topic forum got more traffic than the other forums, wouldn't that just result in an overall decline in quality as everyone is going to switch from asking how tall J. Bayme is to who Shia LeBoufe (or however you spell that) is sleeping with and there will be even more of them doing it?

This is a magic and cardistry website... I think we should stick to that. I'd rather have the forums be slower, but have more quality posts about magic, than a bajillion Off-Topic posts.

To be honest, that's exactly what Decknique is like, much slower and have more quality posts, and that has an Off Topic Section .

Oh have a CRY. Not all of our lifes revolve around magic.

I think an off topic forum is a great idea ive been thinking about it for ages.

honestly, i dont get why everyones so serious about the integrity and pureness and everything in these forums like its their lives or something..

howev, as much as an off topic thing sounds cool and all, it would certainly distract from the purpose of this site. A magic community built on helping everyone and offering advice.

sure, we're a community thats fun and likes to talk alot of c rap now and then, but all that stuff is magic related and we've been doing fine without the off topic forum.
We can all chat through PMs!

I think it's a good idea to make an off topic forum. People are going to continue making stupid threads regardless of rules/mods etc. I think it would be better if all these threads are out of the way.

If you want to look at them you can, if you don't you can just stay in the general discussion forum which will be hopefully spam free.

I dont think this website needs one. One of the reasons that this site is really good is becuase it is unique and becoming like all the other websites wont help that any. I understand where you're coming from, but those conversations should be saved for PMs.
