Hey everyone,
some of you may remember that 2 months ago, I asked around to get advice about a show I was going to have on Jan 9th, well I edited and posted the video up.

This is the first time I have ever performed on a big stage like this and it is the first time I performed for such a long period of time. So yea... just take note of that as well....

I spent only around 1 month preparing everything. The music I chose the night before... yes....

I do not take credit for any of the material I use. I did not make up any of it. Im sorry to say that but Im 15 and planning a 100% original show just isnt my thing... you know...?
so yea...

Watch my Credits video first then watch the actual show so that you dont have a continueing "butthead stole material" feel.

The show is called POOF, because Im the worlds greatest namer person thing.
It was around 1 hour long including the intermission.

PS. I did poke my hand on the Russian Roulette so... yea.. heads up on that.

Respect! That was really cool. It was great great to see that you became more confident withe the time! I just thougt that the beginning was a bit too slow.

It was a good show, but could use some improvement but everything can be improved if you try hard enough.
ANyway I thought the effect collard was a bit rushed in the end.
I can see where you were going with the show, kind of Derren Brown geek magic styled at one point.
Needles in my opinion doesn't work well onstage razor blades work better and you could use the same method that you used.
Glass eating couldn't really see the glass maybe use a different colored glass Hint Hint and when you crunch the glass it would sell it better if there was a mic near your mouth so you could really hear that crunch.

I liked the little bits here and there with your scripting, and the david stone section was pretty well played.

Overall I would have paid to watch this and enjoy it, also feeling good that I was donating.

Peace,
Nexus

Thanks Nexus, I chose needles cause in HK, getting those classic razor blades are practically impossible.
but yeah.
I could have improved a lot of things... ah well

the stuff from the shoe, Idk if it really is david stone but it reminded me of it.
I didn't know you where in Hong Kong! I would almost kill to go to hong kong, also i'd like to see singapore.

For what you had it was a great show.

It was kinda Stone ish style wasnt it.
That was actually from Thomas Fraps. I learnt it from the DVD, Flicking Fingers the Movie. Hong Kong is... pretty cool.
not much shops and groups/ organizations. But you do get to meet Zenneth Kok and what not so its pretty cool.

Hey, thanks for posting!
I have only watched the first part so far, and it was very good!
Some feedback on the first ten minutes:
poof part 1
Entrance:. -exude more confidence. confidence will establish applause, plus there are a couple of other ways to encourage applause (perhaps earn it with an immediate effect). imagine your entrance from the audience perspective: how would you like to see a show start (imagine being told to applaud someone before they do anything to earn it).
effect 1: bring spec up to select card, but i didnt understand the point of the effect, it was really lacking purpose. if there was a reason for it, it wasn't clear.
I didn't understand you throwing the rings.
Great work producing the silk, then the bottle from the silk, then the glass from shoe - that is great routining. But then you left it. You should pour yourself a drink, and drink it during the tossed out deck routine.
Nnice tossed out deck - was it gazzo's? Well done. My only advice would be to throw out the cards in the box and ask someone to shuffle, put them back, and throw them back to you (while you drink your water), then continue the routine.
Did you write out your scripting? It was hard to tell, you had direction, but it seemed quite choppy.
stand still. This is so difficult, but so important. As a director/drama teacher, this is one of the biggest and most common signs of nervousness that needs to be overcome with the actors. But put this idea in your head and it might help you be more conscious of it: watch the video again. It looks like you have to pee. You are doing the pee dance. It's quite funny. If during your next show, you are aware and thinking of this, it will help you keep your feet planted.

(Sorry about the sloppiness of these notes)
Hope the will help you next show! Good work!

thanks for all the advice Justin
Yea I did notice most of what you said.
The entrance was kinda sloppy. As the MC is not much of a MC character, I told him to improvise and make it interesting. So he said something and I was thinking "Am I meant to go out?"
but yea.
The card trick, if you watch the Credit video like i said above, it was meant to be a joke. Like how i said applause no matter what i do. Basically, I was trying to reveal a totally wrong card, and still get an applause as part of the whole gag thing. But luck is a bugger and he picked the 9 of clubs while I revealed the spades. No one noticed the diff.
As for the rings. Its also talked about in the Credits video (cough cough). I was going to use an appearing cane for misdirection for the splash bottle, but then as I was stupid, I left it at home. So i had to improvise that part.
The Tossed Out Deck. I learnt from John Archer (also in the Credits video). It is basically Gazzos but with a switch that Archer taught, which I did not use. So lets just say its Gazzos with a crappy swap.
I wrote the script 2 weeks before (credits video) and I lost it on the last day. Although I memorized most of it, it made me nervous to know that I had to perform by heart without any extra notes.
As for the giddy thing, yea... will work on that.
haha
thanks
