Does anyone know what your supposed to do if you want to submit a trick. I know you are to go to submission on theory 11, but do I send like a video of the trick or the explanation of the trick I want to submit or what?

I believe you have to go to The Wire to submit a effect/trick. Hope this helps.

No, the marketplace is an alternative way to self publish. Theory11 still accepts submissions for the main site. You go down to the bottom of any page on the site and click "Submit a Trick". Follow the instructions and put your best foot forward. Good luck!

I think Mclintock already cleared that up.

Theory 11 offers TWO ways to publish.

The first is the Marketplace (Which used to be called the Wire)

If you want to submit a trick to the Marketplace you must film a trailer and explanation video. If it is approved, Theory11 will publish exactly what you submitted on the Marketplace. You have the ability to set the price and ad copy on the market place and you also will need to create a Marketplace account to monitor your sales.

You can do all of that here: https://www.theory11.com/marketplace

The second is to submit a trick directly to Theory11 to have it considered as an official Theory11 release.

If you want to submit a trick to Theory11 you must film a performance and write a description of the effect. If it is approved, Theory11 will negotiate with you to recieve royalties or a buy out for your effect. Theory11 will then film a trailer and tutorial using you or a magician mutually agreed upon to represent your product. They will then sell your effect in the Magic trick section of the site NOT THE MARKETPLACE. They will also distribute the product to magic retailers. Theory11 makes many of the business and creative decisions for this type of product.

You can submit to Theory11 here: https://www.theory11.com/submit-trick

Oh I see now. I read your previous post too quickly. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

It's MUCH more difficult to have a company publish your idea in place of self publishing but in my experience it is much more lucrative.

I have self published on the Marketplace and Penguin and have made hundreds of dollars, maybe even over a thousand in the 5ish years these avenues have been around.

On the flip side of things, Penguin published one of my ideas as a P3 product. This resulted in thousands of dollars. I was able to take my family on a cruise with the royalties.

There are some who have made a bigger impact with self publishing. Arnel Rengado, Shin Lim and Zach Mueller to name a few. These guys are the exceptions though. Most experiences I would expect to be similar to my own.
