theory11 — Magic Tricks & the World's Finest Playing Cards

Saturday Night Contest - Alternate Use!

I use old cards in tricks where I don’t mind drawing something on the card, tearing it up, or burning it.

I just remove the jokers and get to work. Mostly, Up The Ladder as you may already know. I strip the cards keep on stripping and the deck is back in new deck order. It is a false cut for those not familiar and I have 4 tutorials on the move. One which is 15 minutes long. Great move, and that is what I do with my decks.

when my cards get old they start stacking up so i use them to practice packet cuts , card throwing

I'm a teacher, so I use them in class to assign groups, to randomize calling on students, or to give us a next direction if anything comes down to a coin flip. They make good bookmarks, too!

I let friends and family sign/draw their favorite card in my deck. It’s like a yearbook that I can keep with me wherever I go.

I play guitar and its a common occurrence for guitar picks to perform a disappearing act on the regular, so I cut out the pick shape out of ad cards and sometimes jokers and stack 2 or 3 depending on which thickness i need! They dont last very long though... better than a coin.

I like using them as bookmarks! I take jokers out and add them to an every growing collection that one day I will frame. Retired decks go into a box, never the trash, I will always find a use for them. Whether it's just to prop something up, hold the corners of something down, practice making gimmicks or cutting something. There are so many uses.

I turn my old playing cards into new gaff decks for magic and also use them for practicing to create card flowers or cool figures.

I’ve used old decks as little labels/tags before, especially for organizing boxes or cables since you can write on them easily. They also make pretty handy bookmarks, and if you have a deck you don’t care about, you can cut them up for quick craft projects.

I do a tone of stuff with them, like practicing cardistry or throwing cards and I actually made a ring out of one recently by folding and pressing it tightly and cut the ends untill it fit, then used uv resin to coat the whole thing to make it stronger.
Congrats Prince! Your entry was randomly chosen to take home this week's prize - please contact our support team with your details so we can get your prize out to you ASAP!
