Searching for Inspiration

Hi guys, I'm a first time poster, so stay with me!

I've been out of magic for a long time, I used to be heavily involved with sleight of hand magic. I only used to perform Card Magic and used to practice alot with coins, but never performed with them. Anyway, to cut a long story short, I spent alot of time studying all the classic texts and working on the "benchmark" sleights (Diagonal Palm Shift, Passes etc) and used to genuinely enjoy performing. But I fell out of love with it all during my early twenties and I've never got "that" feeling back since.

I'm invigorated by this site and seeing Chris perform. Chris' books was one of my favourites and getting the opportunity to see him perform has been a jump start for me to get back into magic. I'm looking for more material to really get my teeth into, stand-up (no table), gimmickless (not even a single card/coin), and impromptu (a spread cull is not a problem) routines with cards and coins that are technically demanding and beautiful to watch (Hellbound Spellbound, anyone?).

Thanks for reading and I look forward to sharing ideas with you all soon.

Since you're a first time poster, I'll do the mods a favor and tell you to "Make sure to check out the forum rules here.".

I'll let someone else point you to some good books on the subject though, as I don't quite consider myself knowledgeable enough on that to really properly answer it. I have some pointers on video material though.

For cards, I was going to suggest looking at Lennart Green's Master File, but unfortunately it's tabled. He's brilliant though (watch his professional act here for further inspiration). If that kind of magic isn't really your thing, you might want to consider the Buck twins' The Trilogy (and maybe Andthensome). I own it, and I've learned a lot from it, but in practice find the effects to not quite suite my style. This is of course a personal thing, so be sure to check it out still. Both of these suggestions are sets of DVD's, so they should offer you plenty of material to work on. You'll also find both sets to be technically demanding. For further convenience, they're also both available at this site ;).

Regarding coin work, take a look at Ponta the Smith's Sick, then check back after you've mastered that.

Oh, and welcome to the forums ;).

[Edit]

Oh, and at the mods: I do apologize if I'm acting above my post-count here. Just trying to help, but I figured it might be taken as a bit too forward.
