Stage performance!

Hey Theory11, i have been just asked to do a stage perfromance around christmas time at a local festival, around 200 to 300 people are attending. I do stage from time to time but usually not this big ( YET!:p) I have some stuff planned , most is visual and almost no words. Ex) When david stone performs his BITE ME routine, no words are used, i need visual. Mostly for adults. Does not have to be christmas related. What do you guys perform when your asked to do a stage type perfromance, do you do a mentalisim routine, a visual act, manipulation? Please share!

Funny you bring this up. I have my first stage performance at a talent show on the 30th. I have been beating myself up about it because I have never performed on stage for anyone, I have only done a lot of close up work. But I think that a mentalism routine is best for an audience of adults. Thas is what I am going with.

Nobody can really answer that question for you. It all depends on your character and how you want to present yourself.
If you want your audience members to really think that you have some kind of powers then you should do only mentalism( i suggest Derren Brown and Banacheck effects,also stigmata v2 ) .

But in the case that you want them to think that you really have nothing supernatural and you just want them to be entertained then you are free to do anything you like. You can very easily introduce a deck of cards and/or effects with coins.In this case , i would suggest as you said some visual stuff (try David Stone's Ghost) but also effects from d+M (angle zero,effects from burn,Bound,wrath,fatal,MEMENTO,etc), also Wayne Houchin's effects have worked great for me (stigmata,indecent,sinful,distortion,CONTROL) and finally if you find yourself under the right circumstances (and supposing you have either ''Pure Effect '' or ''The Devil's Picturebook" from Derren Brown), perform some of his effects. Although some of them,e.g Zamiel's Rose, are pretty angle sensitive, they get some of the most interesting reactions(Smoke,3 card routine,card under bo,zamiel's card/rose,etc). You can also use loops, i guess.
