Here is two effects me and my friend have been working on. The first one, Precision Strike, i believe we have already gotten down well and I'm very happy with it, and we are considering submitting it to the wire. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Of1etl9eV8E&list=UUVeHbQ7hA3jzQZz26gxnh2g&index=2)
The second one though, I feel like we need some feedback on. We performed it for my dad and got a pretty good reaction, but everytime i watch the video i feel like it's too obvious. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sh5dMqOfgvs&index=1&list=UUVeHbQ7hA3jzQZz26gxnh2g)
So yeah, what do you guys think?

Like Nate said i think the second one is a little obvious if someone is looking closely. The first one looks like it might have some interesting potential or applications but I'm not sure of in it's current state it is any better than something like grab or pop fly. Maybe try to come up with an application or routine to use it in and through that process it will grow as an effect.

Personally I think that the second one is way too obvious. The first one is good, but is it possible to do it with just one person? It seems possible, but I'm not sure.

No, its not possible to do with one person, sadly. But i was thining the same thing about the second one.

Well I'm not quite sure what you mean about making it into a routine. Anny ideas? I already have a way to do it with a selected card, if that's what you mean. And when compared to grab or pop fly, I think it's interesting because you don't really see a whole lot of two person magic, and also you could play it off as the other person just being a spectator, therefore giving the effect that some random person did it as opposed to the magician.

I like you idea of using the other person as a "spectator" but then your getting into stooging which has obstacles. I was unclear about turning it into a routine because I'm not really sure what I mean either :) If you have a card selected and then reveal it by plucking it out of a dribble or spring then that is just another card reveal and we already have a ton of those.

While I was writing this I just though of an idea. You could work with the second person being a spectator. I'm not sure of the method so I don't know how much alteration to the method this would require but maybe there would be some way of have an actual spectator (no stooge) pluck out the card. This could possible be achieved by using the same principal used in a timing force. You would have a card named and then put into position either using a stack or just culling the card to the correct position. You could say something along the lines of: "You have named a card that is somewhere in the deck. I'll spring the cards from one and to the other and I want you to reach into the deck and pull out your card." If this effect is achievable with you handling that would be a very powerful moment for the spectator because it would let you put "your magic power" into their hands without them even knowing how they're doing it.

Wow,i wish i could pull something like that off. But sadly,no it's not possible with my handling. And even so,most people aren't really sure how to pull a card from a spring. But thanks for clarifying on the routine thing, i suppose ill just have to wait until I can come up with something.

The first effect is good, the second gave away the method though. Also I think it's a little rough to put on the wire. Go perform it a couple hundred times first.

As for making in to a routine, I think just adding the right presentation well make it much stronger. Talk about how you and your friend got into magic at the same time and are just a little competitive. So he will get three tries to find a spectators card and if he can't do it, you get to do the magic trick.
He has a card selected, you "cheat"and cut the deck when he's not looking or something to that effect, he fails to produce the card, you laugh at him and boast you can find the card without even touching the deck.

With a little work you could turn this into a premise for an entire show. Hope that helps.

P.S, I believe Shin lim has a similar effect where he actually grabs a card from the center of the deck, you might wanna check it out

Thanks for the feedback. I really like the idea for the routine. :p And yeah I know about Shin Lim's effect.
