What are your tips for learning playing card magic?

My tips:
Watch what you do naturally.. and learn moves that fit your natural mannerisms.
People that hold my interest the most tend to have a VERY DELICATE feeling of the deck.
Learn tilt, a double lift, some addons, and a popout.

The best tip I could give anyone in magic is to live with a book for a year. This is Jon Racherbaumer's idea but basically it means to take a book and study it all the way through. Learn and familiarize yourself with every trick. Good places to start would be Royal Road and Expert Card Technique but I am convinced that almost any multi-effect book would work including books like the Expert at the Card Table of Daniel Madison's Anthology.

Goatears.. This is AMAZING advice! Even if you "live with" a dvd! GREAT IDEA! Thank you for sharing.. I may just have to do this... Forget it! I am doing this! Starting with Marlo Without Tears, strangely enough it's a Racherbaumer book. My birthday is January 8th.. so that's when the book get's switched out.

I would say I'm doing this with Mnemonica, but having recently read it I don't think I'll ever stop, screw 1 year, the rest of my life sounds better.
