Hey Kajana, this depends on a lot of different factors. Specifically, what kind of computer are you using to do so? There are many different editing programs for Mac and PC - and many that are available on iPad and iPhones as well.

The "best" program depends on what device you're using, and also what kind of footage you are editing (what kind of camera). In general, the most popular standalone editing programs (we've used literally ALL of these at theory11): iMovie, Windows Movie Maker, Sony Vegas, Adobe Premiere, and Final Cut Pro.

I'd say if you're using a mac, iMovie is the best way to go, it free since it comes with the computer and it's really easy to use and it looks like quality. If you want to spend a lot of money on editing software, Final Cut is great. I would suggest trying out the trial version before you spend $200 on software that you might not like.

I've been editing for a while, pictures, videos i've done it all i've used such programs such as cinema 4d sony vegas pro, i've used most adobe fild editing products, if you are using a pc I highly recommend "Sony Vegas Movie Studio" you won't spend more than 50 dollars at a best buy but eventually if video editing is something that you erally like I HIGHLY recommend for pc: Sony Vegas Pro or After effects (Mac and PC compatible) and if you're on mac Imovie is pre installed and pretty basic in use and simple to understand, on mac you can also get final cut pro as well as after effects. If you want to put together a crazy video this won't be possible without paying some sort of cash. I'm not sure if you're a fan of craigslist but you can find LEGAL and nor pirated copies of such software for pretty cheap you can find some few hundred dollar software for maybe $200 at most.
