What coins to use

I've always been a card guy since I've started out and still am but coin magic really sparks my interest. For the longest time I've been telling myself that I will pick up some coin books to start practicing but never done so until now. I got myself a copy of bobo coin magic which should arrive soon. That leaves me with what coins I should use. There are the Kennedy half dollars, walking liberty or the Morgan's. what is the difference between them and why are the libertys and morgans more expensive.

They are simply more expensive because they tend to be silver and more rare than the kennedy coins. As far as how they handle, i think if you get a nice soft set of libertys, they will handle very nice and when you rub them together they will be silent. It honestly comes down to personal choice however.

While I'm not sure about Morgan's, Walking Liberties are slightly smaller and thinner yet heavier, which many coin magicians prefer. Pick up a couple, and try other kinds of coins as well, to see what works best for you. Handling is all based on preference.

Yea I think that's just the best way to find out is by handling them. I just thought there was more to them then just price and handling. I got my self some Kennedy coins my uncle has a bunch a different coins so I can get my hand on some libertys and Morgan's see how they feel.

Do you guys have any idea where I can get some Kennedy half dollars? I asked my bank & I can't seem to find them anywhere. I know Ellusionist sells them but they are like $2.25 a piece & I just can't bring myself to pay that much for a ¢.50 piece.

Just go to different banks you might get lucky and find some. Maybe stop by a few different stores see if any cashier has some.
