I love reading magic reviews and I know we have a lot of great reviews on this forum for all sorts of products. My question is what makes a good review? I'll break down what I think one needs but I'd love to hear all your thoughts.
1. I want to know exactly what is in the product. Whether that means what tricks are taught, what gimmicks are included, what I will have to build myself and what is supplied. As long as it doesn't expose it I want to know what is in it including what format it is. Is it a VHS, DVD, download, streaming, ebook and so on.
2. I want to know what conditions I will need. Will I need to wear something? Do I need a table? Can it be examined? Are there angle issues or lighting restrictions?
3. I don't want too much opinion. All that I need here is if you think it is deceptive and practical. I'd also like to know if you think it is original or not. I will decide if it is a good trick the reviewer just needs to let me know if it is practical and honest on the ad copy. I think a comparison between products can be very helpful to give. How does it stand up to what else is already out there?
4. Is your mark or grade honest and helpful. In my eyes you have to always leave some room to grow. There are many different grading systems out there but for me I feel like it is most useful if when I get a highly rated product that it lives up to its rating. It doesn't help me as a consumer to find that every product you review gets the highest rating possible.
What do you think? What do you find helpful and important in reviews?
