Hi everyone, I'm really interested in David Blaine's needle through hand effect the one he performed to a couple of celebrities. Does anyone have any idea where I can learn this effect ? Thank you in advance

Hey Ghannooomm,

To be completely honest with you, what David did is not an effect...in other words, there is no trick.

Could you learn to do it? Sure, but I would not recommend it.

In the end I don't think I will have the guts to try it, but I sure am curious to see how he did what he did, is there a place where I can learn the method ? Thank you

I couldn't give you any sources right off the top of my head, however, even if I could recommend a place to start I wouldn't be comfortable giving out that information. Attempting to do such a thing could have serious implications such as permanently damaging your hand(s) and that's not a great outcome in general, let alone for a magician.

The "effect" is an old fakir effect. Dan Hauss released a method to do this on DVD called "Through and Through". Brian Brushwood performs a version of the trick as well. I believe Dan Hauss taught Blaine how to do it. Dan's DVD has been pulled off the shelves because it is too dangerous and I can't recommend performing it.

A safer version of a similar effect would be Harry Anderson's needle through arm.

There is a book called Swami/Mantra that I believe has the info, plus lots more similar stuff. Not recommended to actually try it.
