If you want to learn about cardistry, look no further. I highly recommend this download if you are new to this. Andrei explains everything very well.

Excellent investment. Andrei does a great job VERBALLY explaining each move along with little tidbits about its applications and creation. A must have for anyone into cardistry.

One slight drawback - and I use that term very loosely - is that since Andrei is left handed all of the moves are taught mirrored to what the majority of people do. HOWEVER, since Andrei verbally goes over each move vividly, this is not a major issue at all. It's such a minuscule issue I can't take away a star! Go buy this video!

So you want to start learning cardistry, start here! Even if you are an advanced cardist you will learn things in this DVD that you never knew. Andrei is a great teacher. The perfect DVD for beginners just starting out in cardistry. You learn the basic moves as well as some of Andrei's original concepts which are great! In my opinion, at $34 this is a steal. Please buy this DVD.

I purchased this as a download, and received a video that was almost 2gb in size. Watched it entirely, and completely fell in love. I really like the moves, the teaching, and how Andrei performs the flourishes.

Part I - The Basics

In this section, the very basic moves are taught, even if ironically they're not that easy. You'll think cardistry is not for you. I thought that, and you'll do so. But please, don't give up. You'll see how everything will be better with time! All of the flourishes are explained well, and I'm sure everyone will love them.

Part II - Fanning

This is the section I like least. I don't know why. I hate the Flower Fan, and I already knew the One-handed and Thumb fans. But this is taught very well, too.

Part III - Elements

This is the best of all. Using the moves you learned before, you create flourishes that will amaze people. 14 moves explained in intricate detail. Some of them are quite hard, but are worth learning. I personally love Tetra.

Part IV - Original Concepts

I like this part. Three new concepts are shown, along with some variations. ONE, REBOUND and WINGED. Nice stuff.

Part V - Guest Appearances

Alejandro Portela teaches in detail a variation of ONE, and one of the Buck twins teaches the Carnahan Fan, which can be learnt in the v2 of Trilogy, or as a separate DL on t11.

Conclusion

This is a very nice video, in which a lot of cool stuff is taught. The quality is incredible.

Some excellent stuff here. Great basics. Don't expect to be able to do all those crazy multi-packet cuts after watching this. Expect, instead, to gain a solid foundation in flourishing, which will of course lend itself well to learning more advanced moves.

This is a great purchase for beginners and I highly recommend it.

As someone who had pretty much zero experience with cardistry going in, Genesis v1 is amazing. Andrei's teaching is detailed and easy to follow, and makes the learning process far less daunting than it could've been. Even if you're not a beginner then I'm sure you'll still enjoy some of the more advanced moves as they're also excellent. Overall, if you're interested in getting into cardistry or just improving your technique, this DVD is a must.

This is a great a dvd for beginners. I had little experience in cards when I got this dvd about a year ago. I recommend it hands down for any one who is just starting in card manipulation. Best training dvd I have purchased for the purpose.

I think this is a great way to start your journey in cardistry. This will jumpstart your skill level and make future challenges easier.

The thing that made this DVD challenging to learn is the fact that Andrei is LEFT HANDED. So if you're RIGHT handed well then... you get the picture.

This is a must buy for anyone though.

Genesis v1 is THE starting place for anyone wanting to learn cardistry. Andrei is an engaging teacher who tells you up front that "this isn't easy" and then encourages you to tough through it. His teaching style is very laid back but he does not miss a single point about any move. I love the different angle shots, the demonstration close ups and his constant encouragement.

What I really find awesome about Andrei is the way he gives credit where credit is due. He'll name who invented the trick, who added to it, who does it the way he likes and so on. Andrei is a class act and a great teacher. I trying to get this video in everyday and I have not even looked at v2 which I bought ten minutes into watching v1. I knew the second one was going to be just as good. I hope we see A LOT more from Andrei. He is awesome.

Right here is some of the best money you can spend at T11. Right here. Buy this video, you will never regret it.

This DVD is simply AWESOME. This DVD is the PERFECT choice if you are starting with card floruishing, and even if you are more advanced at it.

Andrei, as a professional flourisher, teaches the moves with detail step by step close-up explanation. And after a slow motion follow along session.

So go back, scroll up and press the 'Add To Cart' button. Genesis is worth every cent of your money.

Genesis v1 is really awesome. You hardly get such good instructions given in cardistry tutorials. Shot in HD, each tutorial is taught step by step in a un-distracting surrounding and different angles. Although Andrei uses his right hand to do cuts and I use my left hand so sometimes I need to pause and watch carefully where his fingers are positioned.

Andrei has even taken the time to find out ways to overcome problems in cuts and flourishes. All i can say that this is a VERY GOOD dvd. And overall I'll give this a 11 out of 10.

Well, since I have just finished watching this Cardistry DVD, I cannot say this is a review, but just to give you guys an idea of how this Andrei Jikh presentation fares against others. Anyways, I am more of a sleight-of-hand magician with a small knowledge of cardistry. I bought this as I wanted to learn some cardistry flourishes and cuts.

What it says::Nearly 4 hours of training on 30+ moves...
After nearly a year of planning and production, theory11 is proud to unveil the first installment in Andrei Jikh's highly anticipated three DVD anthology on the art of cardistry - GENESIS. This is volume one.

Comprehensive Cardistry + GENESIS is a project representing literally hundreds of hours of work and years of innovation on the part of one of the most influential names in the cardistry community today - Andrei Jikh.
As the DVD showcases countless moves, there is no way I will go over each one. Just give you a raw idea on the overall quality of this DVD.

Quality: 10/10
No comment.

Atmosphere/Feel: 7/10
Andrei films this in his "home studio", in more specifics, a complet black background. I would have preferred a more professional approach to the feel, but this black background makes learning so much easier as there are no distractions. Good choice, but maybe not the best.

Moves: 9/10
Very wide and comprehensive, perhaps 1/3 to 1/2 the moves are basic moves, thus I probably can't give it a perfect score. Still AMAZING, as the original moes are brilliant.

Visuality: 10/10
His "style and flair" makes the simplest of cuts, the most basic of flourishes look good. The more complex ones are just beautiful. Amazing visuality by an amazing artist.

Practicality: 8/10
I can see myself using most of these moves in my arse-nal (as he says), but maybe some like the one-handed suffle or the scissor cut, I won't use so much. Overall, very practical

Explanations: 9/10
Watching his 1 on 1s, Andrei is a fast teacher and assumes that you know what he is doing, one of my concerns. However, he goes through them with much clarity and drills the information to your head in Genesis. Maybe one or two flourishes like the Angel, he goes very birefly, because they are simple or it is created by another artist. Great job.

Advice: 10/10
Andrei doesn't just explain them to you, in each flourish or cut, there is an introduction (history or inspiration) and a conclusion (tips and advice). He tells you how to overcome certain problems or various flourishes, making the learning process so much easier. The DVD is flawless on this aspect.

Overall: 9/10
Andrei Jikh has done a great job in his first DVD. Indeed, it is one of the greatest cardistry projects. For cardistry fans, go for it. Whether you are a beginner or advanced cardist, Andrei gives you tips on how to expand simple flourishes into mastering them, even if you know how. A success.

This IS the DVD you are looking for, no matter your skill level or style. Genesis is hands down the best cardistry product ever released. I'm going to briefly go over the contents highlighting what caught my attention.

I must say it took me 4 days to watch all of it because there is so much stuff that it's insane. And that was just the first quickie I gave it! This material will last me months to master... Let's begin with the basics:

- Charlier Cut
Loved the tips on real life perfomances to give meaning to what we do and those funny lines to involve the audience. Really valuable advice.

- Thumb Cut
I learned it the wrong way! Now I understand why so many people is adicted to these cuts, now my flares look much better with Huron Low's ninja style.

- Scissor Cut
I have to say I miss some advanced applications here but the teaching for the basic move couldn't have been any better.

- One Hand Revolution Cut
Is Brian Tudor the father of the move? I remember it took me a while to get used to the mechanics but soon it became one of my favourite flourishes when I was starting out. The one in my right hand always looked a bit weaker so I'm happy that Andrei is a lefty.

- Angel
A beautiful move by Bone Ho. Andrei teaches the way to do it if your hands are as dry as a “mojama”.

- Widthwise Triangle
This is not the method I use but it is the same result so it's nice to train alternatives. He also gives you tips to add flare and personality. Don't skip this part.

- Lengthwise Triangle
I love the advanced handling using hand motions and his “Blink” move to close it. I actually use the Lengthwise Triangle in one of my flourishes that you can, by the way, quickly get a glimpse in Sexy Time, I call it Triangulo.

- One Handed Shuffle
This is the first flourish i've ever learned, even before the charlier cut. When I first saw this in Rene Lavand's hand I fell in love with card flourishing. Andrei gives some nice point on how to master this tough guy.

- Thumb Propulsion
Aka Long Distance Spinner. A move I've never been able to do. Will move it up my to-do list right after finishing this review. I must learn this move in order to... "Do your flourishes, do your applause cue, and when they're applauding McBride the f*ck out of them!" - Ineski

- Spring
Andrei explains all techniques in this extensive in-depth tutorial, even The Virts' way is touched here. One of the most impressive and all time Stars of card flourishing.

- Flower Fan
Another one that I have to practice in order to get an even full circle shape. Credits to Jerry and Jeff McBride. Girls love this one.

- One handed Fan
Andrei's one handed fan is one of the best I've seen, there's Jaspas' and Huron's but hey, we are talking about Andrei's DVD here right? I have to practice this in my left hand as I normally do a Carnahan Fan instead so again thanks Andrei for being lefty.

- Thumb Fan
It truly is one hell of a tough move. I love the way Andrei forms it with that 360 spiky shape. Watch out for the "oilies"?!

Great tips on how to perform it on stage and live performances. Overall impression: 5/5 stars from me dawg!

Remember in the Andrei Jikh RTD on this project where Andrei said "We all sucked two years into cardistry"?? I totally feel that way and it encouraged me that Andrei felt the same way two years into his start and yet has established himself as one of the Big Guns in this niche art form.

I understood that this project was going to be a concepts upon concepts? video where one element was to build upon another. Still, when he opened up with The Mechanic's Grip and The Charlier Cut, my first reaction was "great, this is going to be Xtreme Beginners all over again." but I had to remind myself that until I've performed a 5 minute routine for Cirque De Soleil, I have much to learn from this young man.

Other forum members have posted in depth reviews and move lists included in Genesis so I won't bother here.

Thoughts on the project I think the community would find valuable:

I like the semantics of teaching "Moves" and not "Cuts." This teaches elements that are made to combine and routine which I think that many forget with Dan and Daves or Daniel Madison's material. Pandora is a fabulous cut, but there are 6 or 7 great moves and concepts within that one giant cut we call Pandora. If you ever see one of the parts on a video, it's always presented in Pandora, and it says something about the creativity of the flourisher -- they seem to have left all the creativity to the original artist (and I do understand that presenting another persons work in a video is a sort of tribute to the original artist, but aren't you crediting the artist in the credits?). If DnD and DM show the compelte building then break it down into parts in a tutorial, it's neat that this project just lays out the parts, and it leaves the creativity and the responsibiltiy to use the moves in a routine up to the flourisher. THAT is going to be huge in taking our art form to the next level as a whole in my opinion. Kudos!

The Foundational Moves and the Thumb Cut

People tell you hand size doesn't matter. And it's true! There are a number of cuts and sleights that I've had to modify to the size of my petite asian hands in order to successfully pull them off, but the thumb cut is one of those moves that I've just plain figured I'd never be able to do. When I lay my thumb across a deck of bikes, the pad of my thumb doesn't even reach the far end of the rectangle that frames the 2 angels in the circles. My thumb is more than a half-inch shorter than the width of a poker size playing card, so I don't even think about being able to reach around and grab half the deck for a cut. I found in this section that Andrei's hand is the same size as mine. Within 30 minutes, I was popping off a move that I've previously thought was physically impossible for me since I've started magic and cardistry.

2 things in learning that Hand Size Doesn't Matter: 1) No excuses anymore; but even more encouraging 2) anything Andrei can do is something that I can do! That rocks!

The nuances and subtleties that are presented on this DVD on moves I've thought I've mastered have added a lot more finesse and refinement to my flourishing just after 2 days. Many tips are gained in Andrei's verbal explanations, but I've learned volumes about presentation by watching the performance clips and the slo-mo's. I've learned about adding personality, blocking, angles, motions and movements that add flair, more precise finger positions, etc.

As with other things, the difference between The Good and The Great are the little things. In races, often times the difference between First and Second are 100ths of a second. In Sales, the little things are sending clients birthday cards, remembering client's kids names, keeping accurate records, etc... Genesis will teach you the gems, the little things that make a huge difference in the eyes of the spectator or the camera.

Even if you're not a beginner, this will be a valuable resource for any cardist, especially as more than half of the material is original content and are prerequsites to volumes 2 and 3. T11 isn't reiterating that over and over just to get you to invest in Volume 1 as a sales gimmick. It's truly a great project in and of itself on top of being foundational if you look at it, not as 1 volume of three, but at the project as a whole. It's the first part of a 12 hour seminar on cardistry.

Hope you found this helpful.

I've been flourishing for years now, and I thought when I bought this, that it couldn't really teach me anything. But the download finished and I got off my high horse and stepped into an amazingly presented piece of art. Andrei's unique style has something for everyone.

Not only did I brush up on things I could already do, to make them quicker and smoother. I also learnt things that I thought I would never be able to do. For instance, I made the excuse that I couldn't do a thumb cut as my thumbs weren't long enough, but as with everything, Andrei has the answer.

After watching the few mins of explanation, he bulldozed the stumbling block that i'd hit with the move, with his experience and advice, and I was doing the thumb cut instantly.

This is 'THE' DVD for anyone who wants to start flourishing.
A complete beginners guide, beautifully presented in a unique DVD or Download.

I also watched 'Bullet' ( a move on the DVD ) this morning, and I was in awe. I never thought i'd see a one card flourish that cool, and with the explanation given in the DVD, i'm now doing it easily.

No excuses, it has something for everyone, it is perfect for beginners, and even more perfect for experienced flourishers who want to brush up on their basic card moves.

Roll on Volume 2, and if you still don't have Genesis.
The buy button is over there >>>>>>>>>>>

Cheers,
G.

ONE OF THE BEST DVD's EVER.

This is simply pure GOLD wrapped in a plastic dvd case. Each move is intricately taught from multiple angles, and to top it all, each move is verbally explained in great detail. Dan and Dave you guys are amazing, but i have to say this blows you guys out of the water. For now anyways.

If you are a beginner at cardistry and want to learn things the right way, start by pushing the buy button. Once you master the techniques taught here then i would recommend moving to dan and dave's trilogy to broaden your horizons a bit more.

For more advance people, i recommend buying this as well, even if you just use it as a reference dvd. There is a ton of material and it doesnt cost that much. Trust me we have all spent much more on much less. Like i said, this is pure gold. aAdefinite must have.

Amazing DVD. I recommend getting the DVD and instant download so you get to start learning instantly (after the download is done). It is well worth it. This DVD is a steal at 40 dollars, that's a dollar per move, and with all the intricate detail, multiple angles, and walk-through's on EVERY move, it couldn't get any better.

This DVD isn't just for beginners. I guarantee that even if you have been doing card flourishing (I have for over a year), you will learn something new, and get a chance to revise a lot of the basics. So all in all, add to cart, you won't regret it.

From the theory11 forums:

The teaching on this DVD is phenomenal. Andrei talks a lot, which I honestly prefer over just slo-mos. I like hearing about the moves. Pretty much every way a flourish can be taught is utilized on this DVD. Each move is demonstrated a bunch of times(Each move has its own little short film) Andrei provides advice on EVERYTHING. Not just the moves but flourishing in general. The bulk of this DVD is Andrei giving advice, not the actual teaching, which in my opinion is great.

The production value is the best I’ve ever seen. Ever. I was interested in seeing if this beat out the Anaconda DVD is terms of production value, and it 100% did. Great camera and editing work. Great music too.

I really can’t say anything bad about this DVD. I won’t be using that many moves from it, but the ones I will be are amazing. This DVD is by far the best source for a beginner to learn. It blows Xtreme Beginners out of the water, bar none. While it is a beginner geared DVD, if you’re a flourisher I think you should have this in your DVD collection. It has thousands of tips and insight that can’t really be found anywhere else. Its cheap as hell too, can’t believe they’d sell 4 hours of footage for only 35 bucks.

So to close, I say buy it. Advanced guys might not like it, but if you want to learn Andrei’s material, its essential you get this.

Thanks for your time.
- Nick

The best video resource on flourishing available is this DVD. Just look at the content list!

Thank you Andrei for making such a fantastic product. I can't wait to see the other volumes of Genesis in the near future. You are one of those rare people who can make something beautiful out of something so simple.

Buy this DVD - you will find yourself watching it over and over again.
