Thread is one of those effects that is not just a trick. The presentation is so simple but the moment you pull the thread out of your eye, your spectator goes nuts.
The quality of the DVD is top notch, so don't worry about that.
The trick itself is very simple. So far I have only used the geek method. The geek method will feel uncomfortable at first, but like everything, you will get use to it. I have not had any problems. The sleight method looks almost identical. I have not tried it but I'm sure it would hit just as hard.
If you're the kind of person that could see yourself performing this, then I would pick this up. It's very simple and clean. Simple effects are always the best. The reactions are just phenomenal.

This illusion has easily become my most favorite trick I own. It is a beautiful effect. I just did it at college and I got the best reaction I have ever gotten. My girlfriend is now freaked out. I recommend this effect to any serious magician. This trick is the real deal. You will be remembered by all who witness this.

Incredible trick. Maybe the best trick ever created! I love how Wayne Houchin performs this effect.
Derry • UK • 01/18/13
Just sheer brilliance. Absolutely love this! So different from any other effects, and with the well taught gypsy thread as an opener...Perfect!

Two methods are shown: Geek and Sleight. People say that the geek is bad for eyes and so forth. It's not. Follow the instructions carefully. It is uncomfortable (about a 3/10 - no worse than the after effects of an eyelash when it has come out). Performed this in various situations, no bad post effects, and it went down brilliantly. Even if everyone is suitably grossed out. Only thing missing is the ditch move. Easy to work out though.

This is a brilliant effect. This is easy to setup, but takes a while to do . The tutorial is very in depth.
Derek • Canada • 11/19/12
An absolutely brilliant effect! Very easy to do and hits hard! One note is that I was a bit hesitant at trying the method at first because I thought it was a little crazy, but once I got used to it I spent literally an hour looking in the mirror seeing how good it looked. Highly recommended.

This trick even fooled my brother who's a doctor - he said it was biologically impossible!
Patto • Portugal • 10/10/12
It's one of the best tricks on theory11. Awesome!
Ricardo • Mexico • 09/22/12
OH MY GOD. Wayne is awesome and this dvd is dramatic and amazing!
Oli Smith • England • 09/22/12
A truly astonishing effect that's painlessly easy to do. A brilliant quality DVD, with a crystal clear explanation.
Frederik • Denmark • 09/21/12
It's a great effect! I love it and do it all the time. You need to try it because you can't describe the reactions you get from this trick. You can do it with only a few hours training. You must have this trick your arsenal!

I think that Thread will take practice, but it is definitely one of my favorite new effects, if not the best.
Valdimar • Denmark • 07/26/12
Thread is really good trick, I love it. When you start, you're going to have pain in your eye; but, practice makes perfect. An amazing trick!

I was looking for a magic trick would make a huge impact on the public because for the longest time I was only performing card tricks; the public reaction to me was insufficient. When I discovered this trick and saw the trailer, I said to myself, 'With that, the audience will scream!' And it is today, my best effect. 5 stars!

Thread is one of my favorite magic routines. :D Easy and awesome!

This trick is definitely one of the most stunning visual tricks ever. Wayne goes through a high quality explanation on how to do thread both ways, and the gypsy thread effect. Though uncomfortable for me at first, this has been an awesome trick to perform as you practice and get used to it.
John • England • 11/05/11
Beautiful! Easy and seems painful. Wayne has created so much powerful effects and this will stun the world!
Joe • Ohio • 04/14/11
This is just brilliant. The best trick I do in my show. But you need to know when to perform it. For example, don't perform it at dinner! Other than that, it's INCREDIBLE!
Mark • Australia • 01/10/11
When I bought this I didn't think I would perform this at all (due to the eye part) and I don't. This is one of those effects that you would only perform if you are really into it (don't get me wrong I think it's frickin genius) or you are into performing for huge crowds or stage magic. If you are, this is your perfect trick.
Although there are 2 methods (geek & sleight), there's no way you'd perform the sleight compared to the geek method. As I said before it's intended for the serious or stage performer.
This is a great effect that is easy, amazing, astonishing and will show your spectators that you are up there with the greats of magic. Again, it's for the serious performer.

Thread is my favorite effect and it is definitly something that you should get. The DVD is very well done you get every information that you need. There are performances, interviews, and a bonus effect on the DVD. But you need to get used to this. It took me weeks to perform this without pain but now I don't feel any pain at all.
The set up doesn't take long when you do it correctly it takes 2-3 minutes. I use always the Geek method but there is a sleight method too. In the DVD you get also the history of thread and he talks about his first stage performances. There is only one problem with this trick and that is that this looks so real that is more something for parties (doesn't look magical - it looks real). This is very easy to perform and the material that you need costs about 5-10 dollars / euros. Everything except one thing I had already at home. Overall I give THREAD five stars.

I love this effect! It's so practical and shows the true astonishment in the little things and how you present things to your audience. I mean, pulling a piece of thread out of your eye is amazing enough - but Wayne just takes the effect and brings it to the next level. This is a great effect.

I must say, I never write reviews. EVER. But this is just one of those amazing effects in which I have to. This trick is one of the best tricks that's has ever been created in my opinion. It gives you a couple of different methods which is very nice. It just looks amazing no matter how you do it. I would say, that if you have30.00 dollars to spend on a magic trick, then you've found your trick.

Ok normally I don't do reviews but i thought lets write one. First, the effect is something you have to like. The magician puts a thread in his mouth, swallows it for half its length (so still a bit of thread hangs from his mouth), then the performer starts gagging, and sniffing, reaches up for his eye, and pulls out the thread. The thread goes further in the mouth, and comes all the way out through the eye.
If you like what you see(read), and want a disturbing picture for the audience to remember definitely get it. I think both methods are awesome, although i prefer the geek method more.
I am still working on it, but while practicing I got the image I want it to have it. What you see is what you get, no funny things to hide, its just like the video, the thread goes in the mouth, and comes out from the eye. I think no one will ever know how the effect is accomplished (especially if you do the geek method), if you give it the practice it deserves.
You need to get some things for both methods, but you can get those in a shop near you(I live in the Netherlands, so if any dutch people want to know where i got my stuff, just send me a message).
The geek method doesn't require much, but you might need to get over some psychological issues (the chance is you find this idea a really bad idea), once you get the hang of it, you can prepare yourself anytime anywhere, by just going to the toilet or something. and wayne houchin says he even did it 4 hours before performing it, so you could prepare yourself, do your normal street magic walk around, and perform this whenever you want.
The other method uses a gimmick, and you can make very much of these all at once, it doesn't take long to create, and works great if you're not in for the geek method.
The plus thing about this method is you can make the gimmick, keep it in your pocket forever, and pull it out when you need it. Also, before I forget, bote methods dont require expensive stuff, I believe I found everything for 10 to 15 dollar(but I already saw online, that the amount you get in America for that price is much more).
Wayne teaches you everything you need to know. He goes into detail about what thread to use, what to use for safety, the acting involved and he gives you a nice little extra called the gypsy thread miracle. It's cool to see the classic trick with wayne's extra add.
Although it's such an old trick, it looks so clean, and seeing wayne perform it, actually got me performing it right away, and the person who saw it was stunned. So yeah, it's nice he reminds you of the power of those classic effects.
Some nice things to know about the geek method is that it is so clean, for me that is the real thing. You can really stop half way through and show the thread hanging from your eye. Some subtleties he teaches you make sure the method never gets spotted. And in the gimmicked method, the gimmick is very easy to handle, and to hide. Your hands look clean, the image is almost exactly the same, the only difference is, you can't show the thread hanging from your eye. But for the persons who don't want to do the geek method, yeah the gimmicked method is definitely worth the price(I don't know what the price is going to be at theory 11, but waynes price was good, so I think theory 11's price is still worth it).
Also, the quality of the video is great. I bought the dvd and download. The quality is great, and some nice extras are involved(gypsy thread, an interview, prop management for thread). I only saw the download, so maybe the dvd has even more extras.
So to close this review. This will be one of the tricks(in my opinion)that let you say to other magician: dont buy it. It's actually something you only want to know for yourself. I think it's going to be my favorite of this year(since I do razorblade swallowing, and saw, this is a nice add to geek magic with thread). I would rate this really a 10/10.
And I want to thank Wayne for bringing this effect on the market, I have been waiting for this since the time I saw his youtube vid of thread(and that's a long time =P). sorry if people don't like the review, it's my first review. Any questions, just ask.

Ok so we have all seen the demos and every thing for thread and know what it is. I am only reviewing the Download because thats all I have so far. The download is over 1gb so it takes a while to downlaod. It comes with how to do the tricks, the history of it, a long version of the preview, and an interview with him.
THE EFFECT : Swallow some thread and make it come out your eye. It also comes with also the gypsy thread (torn and restored thread)
Wayne teaches two different methods of thread. The first of the two is called the geek method. The second is called the the sleight method. I will have reviews for the two methods.
GEEK METHOD : It uses a couple of every day house hold items that should take you only a couple of minutes to find around your house. This method looks painful but Wayne tells you things you can do to make it not painful at all. It is pretty simple and you will hit yourself in the face when you see how he pulls it out.
It takes about 5-10 at most to set up and you can have it with you for about 4 hours. Their isn't a reset really but you can use the same thread over again if you wanted to. 9/10.
TEACHING : If you have seen any of Waynes other products you know that he is a great teacher. He makes sure that you get the trick and understand it well. He shows you what you need to do and were every thing needs to go so that you can perform the trick. 10/10.
DIFFICULTY : It doesn't really seem hard to perform at all. I haven't tried it yet but it seems like you would be able to do it fairly easy. Difficulty 3/10.
SLEIGHT METHOD : This one uses a small easy to make gimmick. You should have every thing in your house except for 1 thing but, you should have it if your a magician. It takes longer than the Geek method but it should take you less than 10 minutes. This ways is better for if you want to do it any time. It doesn't have a reset. This way looks very similar to the Geek method but it is done differently. This method is for people who are on the safer side. 7/10.
TEACHING : He break down how to make the gimmick and how to use it. He is a masterful teacher like always and gives you little tips on how to make the performance better. 10/10.
DIFFICULTY : This is not hard at all. The hardest thing about it is making the gimmick and that is easy. Difficulty 3/10.
ALL AROUND : This is a great DVD that will not only help you with this trick but with the presentation of a lot of your other tricks also. He tells you the history around it, when to perform it, who to perform it to, etc. I would give this DVD a 9.5 / 10.
