Hey guys,
I am back for another review. This time it is Witness by Lee Asher. Well, here goes...
|| What it says ||
You now hold in your hands -- an original idea from Lee Asher. He
performs his brand of magic across the world, leaving audiences
speechless. Witness has never before been released on
DVD -- until now.
After having a card selected, your spectator holds a ziplock bag with
a Joker sealed inside. The Joker, held securely between the
spectator's palms, 'transforms' into the selection! Never once is the
bag opened. Everything can be handed out for examination.
This trick is that straight-forward. Selected card travels from the deck into the ziploc bag held into the spectator's hand. The bag initially has a Wild Joker. Really nice effect.
Quality: 10/10
What else? Another HD DVD edited by Dana, great quality. Everything is crystal clear.
Live Performances: 7/10
There is only one full live performance. The rest are just the reactions of the spectators. I was expecting a few more live performances, but I guess it is enough to see how Witness should be performed. Not the most critical section, but nevertheless still very imprtant.
Method (not teaching): 8/10
The method is simple yet clever. If your spectator is difficult and loves to ruin your tricks, then this effect is a no-no. Quite bold, if you have the DVD, you will know what I am talking about. The spectator may want to turn the bag over before hand or snatch the bag away from you. No gimmicks, just a regular deck, a ziploc bag and a *********.
Teaching: 8/10
21 minutes of Witness isn't enough to clear up all doubts someone should have, bue he does go through the method in quite an in-depth manner. Also, he does offer help to those who still have doubts about performing Witness. Go to the forums. You can sign up for a newsletter where Lee gives you extra information on Witness. Back to the DVD. Anyway, he doesn't go over the method over and over again. He just goes through everything once and that is all. But still ,very easy to understand. Nice job, Mr. Asher.
Final thoughts: 9/10
Lee teaches you subtleties and extra ideas for Witness, as well as presentation ideas and critical points when performing Witness.
Overall: 8/10
Overall, job well done for Mr. Asher. Teaching is good, method easy yet ingenious, maybe a little rushed but still a nice DVD. Like Control, you need confidence to pull this off, as well as good spectator management.
