You cant judge these by wich gives more reactions. They both have absoloute killers in them.

If your a close-up guy either one is amazing. Its just if you like to read or watch a dvd.

don;t limit yourself to just cards. that is a big no-no. the more items you can do magic with, the more you can astound your spectators.

Effects do not give reactions. You do. It's your performance which gets the reactions. Two people performing the same effect with different approaches can get two very different sets of reactions.

Think about it, do you want to be the one they audience is applauding for, or do you want the effect to take all the credit?

If you are looking for an easy answer, a way which you can get awesome reactions with minimal effort, I'm sorry. You will be very disappointed with your result.

Also, please do not try and compare the two. They are both filled to the brim with amazing stuff, and are two different compilations.

Do the DVDs contain tricks that are not present in the books or vice versa?

Yes, both the books and the DVDs provide effects that are not in the other. That said, if you don't have AoA, it would be my recommendation (and from reading a number of threads here, the recommendation of most magicians) to get these, the books, first.
