Help With Street Magic Routine

I was thinking about performing some street in my town square this summer and I'm kinda confused on a few things.

First, what type of material should i use. Should I try to stick to impromptu or are set-ups and gimmicks okay?

Second, how should I present it? Should I bring a table, wait for a crowd to gather, approach individuals or what?

Third, what type of magic is best? I'm mainly into card magic so I was wondering if I should bring other things because cards would get boring after a while.

Fourth, are there any tips that people have for me? Tips on certain types of people to avoid, always be prepared, etc.

Any input would be great!

From reading what you wrote, I guess ur a beginner in magic. So I will do my best to advice your question.

1. It's doesn't matter what material of magic u use, but I do like gimmick magic.

2. Do magic at a town square with a table is not a good idea, not to mention the security will give you a hard time while your there (experienced from my past). What I would recommend is do hit and run magic (give it all you got and gone, unless ur hitting on hot girls). On the other hand, looking for a good crow on the street is difficult; its not easy looking for the type of ppl that you want. What I usually do is approach the teen groups, they are more life enjoy from the adult (Most adult that I ask to do a trick, they're all denied it).

3. Do everything you know best and focus on your presentation. Its not what you do, its how you do it.

4. a) Always think on your feet, and prepare whatever the spectator come up next.

b) Bring an invisible deck with you, it's help against heckler.

c) When working on the street, especially the mall area, try not to interfere their business (public disturb or whatever) they might call the security on you and make sure to do fire magic at the appropriate place.

d) have a partner follow you with a camera, it make you look a bit more professional.

e) when you are out on the street looking for spectator, it's best looking for hot girls. Because it's most likely they gonna say yes. (I have personal do this alot)

f) The way you dress is also have an impact on people. Dress to fit in with the crow, dress the way that people on the street wont afraid of you.

g) this is optional, bring condoms (lol, just kidding)

I'm not a beginner at all. Although I don't quite know why you would assume that I've been into magic for years.

the I higly suggest that you see that thread, anyway, some things that can help you...

*Practice the way you ae going to approach people, morgician once told me that it's best to come to them with NO CARDS at hand, and to try to build rapport witouht them.

*When you first approach somebody, you have to remember that you have roughly like 15 seconds to explain why did you approached them, gain their trust,and most importantly, gain their interest in you.

*if this are your first times approaching random people DO NOT RECORD THEM it may feel akward and people may start to question you about the camera, and those things can make your nervous, believe me. Instead, graba a couple of buddys en tell them to go with you, you will have more confindence this way rather than going alone.

*Enjoy it! it's not your obligation to do a card trick for them, you are doing it because you are enjoying it too, if you feel that things are starting to go wrong and akward with people, make an excuse and go away....
