Street (Restaurant) Magic Video

Hey guys! In the New Years resolution SNC, mine for the week was to make my very first MAGIC video (I've made a few R/C car video's). Unfortunately, I got busy and did not make the deadline.

This morning, I was able to finish the video. I would love to hear your thoughts on the performances/reactions and the editing I did as well. This was my first ever video to edit using Vegas Movie Studio HD 9 (the others I have done have been with Pinnacle).

Fyi, I know in the ACR I kind of flubbed when doing CTM because I hadn't done it in a while. Patter also wasn't amazing for the ACR because I hardly ever use an ACR!

Anyways, I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Since you wanted a review I will try to be as helpful as possible.

Video itself:
I think the lighting was an issue for me but I think you knew that as you tried to fix it latter and then may have been forced to shut of the extra light source or something. Also for the big finish I did not get to see the effect as the camera was focused to far down. The last thing I would touch on is the sound, it may be helpful to get a mic or something to improve your sound. You can get lots of tips form viral video sites for making homemade steady cams and booms and such. But that is the bad parts now for the good parts.

The video editing was well done. I like the dissolves at the beginning and the transitions were good. The music did not overwhelm the patter but it may be good to bring that down just a touch, though I think you may have been trying to get the background noise down with it. In that case leave it as is. Choice of music was also good, it complimented the effects that where done well the effect and music blended to make the overall performance more enjoyable to watch.

Performance:
All in all I don't have much to say on this as I think you did a good job. In the effort to give you something I think you should have more confidence in yourself. You built a rapport with the people you performed for, they reacted and enjoyed the performance, your patter suited your style and did not seem uncomfortable. When you first posted you seemed to tell us that you made allot of mistakes and I didn't see them. Magic is about creating a moment for the spectator that is magical. Not about being the best technical magician out there. You created magic for your spectators so you should be proud of your performance. My acting teachers used to say this to me all the time. "Don't apologize for the mistakes you think you made, because when you went out on that stage you owned it." I think this applies to you my friend.

Good job, You owned it!
