What I think is really cool is that your description of the effect could be 10 different effects.
1. Spectator picks a card from a face down deck, looks at the card and then turns it over to see it is the only card that has its name written on the back. The reveal of the name is done by rubbing on the card (same as for all of the following).
2. Spectator picks a card from a face up deck, looks at the card and then turns it over to see it is the only card that has its name written on the back.
3 and 4. Magician puts a card face down aside as a prediction, spectator picks card (face up #3 or face down #4) and prediction is blank card with name written on it.
5 and 6, Spectator thinks of a card and it is the only card in the deck (#5) or the prediction (#6) which has the name written on it.
7. Spectator thinks of a card, picks a card from the deck and sees that the card they picked has the name written on it but the rest of the deck is blank.
8. Spectator picks a card from a deck of blank cards, names what the card is and the name appears on the face of the card.
9. Spectator picks a card from a deck and it is changed into a bank card with the name written on it.
10. Magician puts a card down as a prediction, the spectator thinks of a card and writes it down, magician turns over blank card, rubs it and it the spectator's writing appears on the card.
Each of those effects has a different method (except for #10 which has a method, but I don't know it). However, we don't reveal methods on the forum. If you are more precise, we can direct you to resources where you can learn the effect you are interested in.
