    Overproof vs Fake a Slide

Imo. I would personally just avoid both. Just try and recreate the most natural action possible. Christopher is spot on.

    What to do?

Not to mention a countless amount of principles that in themselves cannot be considered effects, but can become effects if used correctly.

    What to do?

Guys, let's not turn this into that thread. OP asked for advice, I think he's gotten it.

Weirdest/funniest questions you've been asked while performing?

Once someone asked me "Have you heard of that guy on AGT/BGT/(Can't remember the GT) that did the thing?". I gave a name I gave the performance He was legit on T.V. like 5 minutes ago :D

What deck do you like to perform with? Why?

Gotta throw in my Tally's into the discussion. Although, if possible, a borrowed deck is always a great choice

Don't forget the omlette du frumage In all seriousness though, the guy either stopped caring about this trick, or learned it by now. Which was it? I honestly would have probably stopped caring.

    Simple question; "Red or blue?".

Of course, you could always put one in your shoe and the other some place else... like your sock :) Can I bring up an interesting question though? Is it really that amazing that the card just happened to be the same color as the one they named? I think it'll be better if you just leave it as...

How to make a magician mad in 4 words.

Mentalism is old school (Not my opinion, but when I started magic, I thought it was old stuff no one likes, and mind reading was so cliche. Then I saw some real performances). This is a fun game lol

    Ring magic

Here is a list of about 1000 ring effects (and there are WAY more). http://www.conjuringarchive.com/list/category/91?page=2 Especially check out the latter ones (20th and 21st century) as those will be a lot more available to you. Make sure you look at the ones from Phoenix magazine as well...

    Ring magic

It is a lot less common on the modern market... but you should be looking through some old books or magazines for some good stuff. Ring magic using a rope or a thread is very popular in magazines. There are a few examples in Theodore Annemann's Jinx Magazine. Phoenix magazine has a ton. A lot...

Card Magic: Is it better to display prowess in cards?

If you show off a ton of skill, people will simply pass it over as "quick hands". Plus, it's kind of obnoxious sometimes, and unnatural. IMO the more subtle magic is, the harder it hits.

    The Business of Magic

Just to add to my post (forgot this last time), How to Magish is also available as an audio book right here on the TXI Marketplace. It shows you how to build a brand, be more professional, advertise and grow, etc. I've read through some of it and really enjoy it! (That's the one I was thinking...

    The Business of Magic

Michael O'Brien (@obrienmagic) has a book called "How to Magish", which is a great source I've used. There is also a great book that I'm forgetting the name of. If I remember it, I'll let you know (though judging by it's popularity, it'll show up on this thread in a bit).
