    How to be confident

Steer is correct. Confidence is only gained through experience which does entail failures as well as successes. If you are fearful of getting caught or your level of experience isn't where it needs to be, then I suggest using some self working type effects which will allow your mind to focus on...

I get a lovely female spectator to hug me!

Wow...simple yet very entertaining. The way magic should be. I loved it and thanks for sharing.

    Sponge Ball magic.

Josh, I'm with Randy on this one. Magic should be simple and easy to follow. I am not saying your suggestion is a bad one, but it definitely over complicates things when it doesn't need to. As far as the sponge bunnies, I saw a really good magician use the nice 3D version ones at a very high...

If you were starting over again...

I would have purchased the entire Tarbell Set of Books. Unfortunately I had to settle for Mark Wilson's Complete Course in Magic, but there is a plethora of material in there to get you going. Royal Road to Card Magic would be right up there too. If I could start all over again I would have...

    Marked Deck

Boris Wild's deck is nice and easy to read as is Garrett Thomas' marked deck. Garrett's is made from the Mandolin deck, but is a tad easier to read. Garrett has a DVD that goes into some effects you can perform using his deck. I want to say it is called Speed Reader or something.

    White Magic: My Review

Good call Brian. I didn't really stop and think of that yet either, but I guess if it was my TV special I would want to be the one calling the shots as far as the material being performed.

    White Magic: My Review

Great conversation going here fellas. Love the thoughts, input, and opinions. Let's just keep everything respectful and try to not see everything just the way "we" want to see it. Always listen to others. Tyler, you made a great point about Dan's ingenuity. That is along the lines of what I...

    White Magic: My Review

I just finished watching it and I will say, no disrespect to Dan, but I was a bit disappointed as well. I know he posses WAY more talent than what he displayed. My wife has seen me perform for over 14 years and she stopped watching the show because of how "staged" and preset up everything was...

    The invisible deck is dead?

Nice find Josh. Thanks for posting and sharing that. I LOVED that presentation. It plays the ID so much bigger. Justin is one of my favorite performers because he is genuinely so nice and is a likable guy.

    I Create Magic Because....

Thanks for the added input Craig. I remembered you saying you were good friends with him. The article was a good read. It must have been heartbreaking for him in his early days trying to lecture to 300 people on his "philosophy" and having 270 of them walk out of the lecture.

    I Create Magic Because....

In the November 1990 Issue of Genii, magician Jay Scott Berry is quoted saying, " I create magic, not to fool people, but to instead allow them to believe. The belief in the magic is the magic itself." I feel this is a very powerful statement which has a ton of truth behind it. Too many...
