You're right they aren't magical, but they help create magical effects. For instance if the spectator thinks your dealing from the top (While executing a bottom deal) and they say stop at any time and they stop at their card.
Listen, just put your balls in your mouth and do it to one random person. If you don't make a mistake, you'll be able to do it constantly their after. You just have to take that first step. I mean that in the best possible way :)
Well it takes work to come up with a new method of getting the effect. It's like saying we shouldn't respect all the hard work in creating Panic because a shrinking deck effect has been created way back in the day.
Well I'm doing my first full performance in around 2months, I'm doing it for free to promote myself but I have been told I will get alot of tips.

Contrary to many's belief, the battle section isn't to enhance your ego. It's too show what you've got and it's also a good way to get constructive criticism and advance on how to better yourself or the trick. It's a great section IMHO.
