You could take a joker and make it blank. Or split the double backer (I think it comes with one, right?) and make 2 blank cards by putting 2 blank faces on it.

Go ahead and learn both if you want. It's all personal preference. Learning cardistry wont necessarily help your magic, but it wont hurt it either. They are 2 very different things that occasionally overlay.

Almost all of these applied to me, and I am sure they applied to most people. The thing is, when we hear these generic statements, we automatically link them to things in our life, and we remember it as if they said something very specific to you.

This is almost definitely in your scripting. Just put some time and a story in between "the move" and the reveal. And stay a bit away from them while you do this. Make it at least a few minutes long.

It isn't absolutely necessary to have a brand new one, but you do need one that is in pretty good condition.
