    Where to perform?

Random street performances are risky. In the UK you are liable for any accidents, damages or injuries that can be attributed to you act. People are generally busy and untrusting of strangers so you are likely to get told to go away (or worse). Also filming people opens another “can of...

Is Brad Christian a good performer/magician?

So just looked at these vids and the only one that had alot of audience on was the ambitous card one. I cant say whether these are just stooges or genuine laymen/women, but he does seem to be able to do his sleights and stuff well. in short, i think he seems pretty good to me.

Is Brad Christian a good performer/magician?

The question is about his ability to perform magic. I dont think it has any thing to do with the value of his products. Can anyone put up a link that actually shows him performing to an audience? To me that seems the only way the question can be answered.

    Strike Double Lift - Angles?

Couldnt agree more. You need to get it more slick really. Are you bevelling the deck enough? If you are really struggling then do something to take the heat of the deck when you are doing the double.

    Signed vs Not signed?

If the specs are pulling you up that the card is a duplicate then signed might be a good idea. If you are not getting this issue then "dont run if your not being chased". There are of couse routines that need a signed card and its also a nice momento of your magic if you give the signed card to...

    Sweaty Palms

There are plastic cards out there. Aparantly they are a lot harder to handle though. It might be easier to change tack. You could do less card magic and do other types of magic like coin, rope, cup & ball, elastic bands etc. These forms of magic might not be affected so much When you do...

    Putting together my routine...

It’s a nice idea using brainwave first but you are going to have to change deck as soon as you have done the routine. It might slow things down early in your act. Also, early on in an act, people tend to say, "let me see those cards". If it does happen when you have the brainwave deck, you...

    Putting together my routine...

Joppa, 1. You said you "know" certain routines. Get these completely mastered first. 2. When you plan your overall routine, start with a quick routine that hits hard. I use card to mouth as it takes a few seconds and really establishes your credibility. Finish with the strongest effect you...

What makes a beginner... what makes a pro?

"We are all beginners" is pertinent to the fact we are continuously learning (or should be). In my profession I spent 11 years at college and university. Guess what, I’m still learning after 18 years in industry. If you watch Hit the Road, Paul Wilson actually says how he changed a routine...

What makes a beginner... what makes a pro?

I think its fair to say that a pro/professional magician is someone who is making a living purely out of magic. A Semi Pro/professional is some one who gets paid for performing but does not rely on magic as an income. Amateur is a magician who gets little or no money for performing. I...

    A performance question...

What ever you say, try not to sound big headed. I us a few in you hands routines and when people say how did you do that, i say "i dont know, you are holding the cards". Often its just a knee jerk reaction and doesnt really need a reply. If someone is really persistant then i just say...
