    Who should we emulate, exactly?

The only thing I think we should take from people like Criss Angel is that when he started he was doing something different with the magic (and this was sort of before he resorted to enough Camera tricks to make George Lucas blush.). I personally enjoyed some of his close up stuff and his stage...

    Who should we emulate, exactly?

Not everybody wants to be on TV or be famous. Fame has a high price and not everyone wants to pay it. Stop thinking that everybody who does magic wants to be famous.

    Custom Deck?

the USPCC makes them, but the downside is that it would cost you more than you could ever afford and instead of simply getting a pack of 4 decks or whatever. You'd end up getting like a truckload of them.

You could try selling them on Ebay or Craigslist.

    TalkMagic

Well the Criss angel one was Baller ignoring the facts of life and just running his mouth, then when Brad came and told him he was wrong. He left. Steerpike showed up and went on one of his rants that has nothing to do with anything at all (Kind of like the Ultimate Warriors rants during a...

Draven Reviews: Alpha Cards by Jesse Feinberg

While that may work, I'd bet that most people would catch on pretty much from the get go that he gave them a gimmick. So the "magic" of the moment would be thrown out the window. You could essentially do the effect without the gimmick. Just use a few basic sleights and switch and viola. You...

It's Our Fault Criss Angel Is Famous

I never said it was a key factor, but it is a factor in how the entertainment business works and always has worked. You can pretty much ask just about anybody who's been doing it for years. Sure there are other things that help it and add to it. (talent, drive, etc etc).

It's Our Fault Criss Angel Is Famous

I'm not going to explain this to you. Let's just say that Who you know is a factor in how a lot of entertainers get famous.

It's Our Fault Criss Angel Is Famous

Blaine got noticed when he did Strange travelers for a TV producer. Angel was "noticed" before he was on TV for his broadway show. Copperfield was on TV since around somewhere in the late 1970's and most likely before that he made his money doing stage magic. I could go on, but the main...

It's Our Fault Criss Angel Is Famous

He spends the majority of his career escaping from death. Either from a car about to be crushed/sunk or whatever. The majority of his work is compromised primarily of him doing stunts and very little "magic" every now and then. Houdini did the exact same thing in his time. He would escape...

It's Our Fault Criss Angel Is Famous

Technically he's not really a magician. He's an Escape Artist/entertainer.

It's Our Fault Criss Angel Is Famous

Not everybody who works as an entertainer wants to become super famous. The reason guys like Copperfield, Blaine, Angel and etc got big was because they have resources to do so. They have consultants, PR guys, etc etc. Most current magicians out there don't have the budget to afford all that stuff.

It's Our Fault Criss Angel Is Famous

They're two completely different performers and people. Derren Brown is a Mentalist. Criss Angel is a Stage magician.

    Derren Brown - Subway Amnesia

Most of what he does is actually pretty standard in Mentalism and Magic. Seeing has his consultants are Magicians and Mentalists. I actually only recall him ever saying he used NLP like once or twice, and that was pretty much it. Everything else he does is combination of different things.

    Derren Brown - Subway Amnesia

It's a form of conversational hypnotism. I honestly don't get why everybody thinks Derren Brown uses NLP in everything he does. Hell, the man himself has said a dozen times that he doesn't use NLP.

    Morgan Dollars

You can actually get cheap knock off Morgan and Silver dollars off ebay from a place in china. They're a bit dodgy, but really who cares. You're not performing for coin collectors..

About to start Bar Magic... advice?

It is good buzz, but then some owners may not like the idea of having cards stuck to their ceiling. I do 2nd his idea of taking Bar tending classes though, because if you can't get a gig as a bar magician, you can just be a bar tender and still bring in the cash as a back up plan.

What kind of camera is it?

    Probably an expensive HD camera.

    What is this trick called?

Whats silly about this topic is it went from a guy asking about a Mentalism effect AND getting the answer to it. To Brad and William arguing over their different opinions. It's just kind of sad that this is pretty common place here.
