    Dealing With Bad Reactions

Okay. I see what you're saying. I'm going to re-arrange my patter, perhaps come up with something new that doesn't involve a question, and take it from there. If anyone else has had a negative or "flat" reaction, please post what you've done to improve or respond to salvage what's left of a good...

    Dealing With Bad Reactions

Well, I don't know that I'm "blaming the spectator" for their reaction. I just think the Invisible Deck is an amazingly baffling and clever trick and it really struck a chord with me when I first saw it. Perhaps the Invisible Deck just didn't have the same effect on her as it did me and she...

    Dealing With Bad Reactions

Hey guys, I just got back from doing magic at the local mall- It was my first time doing walk-around magic in a real-world street environment. I found it interesting and I plan on going out again tomorrow. I'm really picky about the spectators I choose and I like to either seek out people that...

    Color Changing Stigmata

Nice thought, but if you literally just READ their mind and had THEIR THOUGHTS appear IN YOUR SKIN.... I think it's time to stop there before someone gets hurt. I don't think you can (or should) follow an effect THAT POWERFUL with anything. When you fry your audience to the point where...

    Camera Work within Magic

Personally, I'm going to use camera work as much as I can as long as it looks legit. The only downside to this is that you have to be able to back up your mad editing skills with just as mad skills in doing live magic...

    Worst reaction you have gotten?

I haven't really had a whole lot of "suckish" reactions mostly because I choose my spectators VERY carefully. Although the worst so far (that I can remember) is just a "Wait...*puzzled expression* I don't get it..." right after a simple two card transpo. I think bad reactions are the result...

Ok. I haven't really looked into a lot of hypnotism techniques and I was just curious if those were the only differences...

    Mentalism vs. Hypnotism

Hey guys, I've been noticing a lot of threads recently about hypnotism, and I'm just curious: What's the difference between mentalism and hypnotism? As far as I'm aware: Mentalism: Uses psychology, suggestion, misdirection, and showmanship (according to Derren Brown) in order to create the...

Houdini and Spiritualism, need some help

I watched a documentary called "Houdini: Unlocking the Mystery" on the History channel and it had a lot of good information about his life, but I'm not sure if you can watch it in time to finish your paper... Here are some highlights...

    Just Witnessed Real Magic

It would be really intrigueing to learn and angle-proof levitation that can be performed 100% in-the-round... Seems impossible to me... Imagine producing your business card after that one!

    Angles for non spectator laymen?

If you're worried about a "non-audience audience", just try to do an angle-proof trick. If you're in the middle of an angle sensitive trick and you notice passerbys stop, stop your routine just long enough to invite them around to your "audience audience"... No big deal.

T11 Round Table Discussion - Wayne Houchin
