    Sorry dreamers, I got facts

I agree with the others. I don't see how a magician as judge would hurt, quite the opposite. As Penn and Teller have proved on their show, magicians can make make very good points about what's good about the presentation and how it can be improved.

Saturday Night Contest - Create A Trick!

Thanks, Rusty, I hadn't seen your reply when I wrote that. And thank you also for reminding me to be a bit more positive: @MickaelD I'm sorry if the above post came across as too harsh. To echo what Rusty said: Good luck with the contests in the future!

Saturday Night Contest - Create A Trick!

Of course they're prejudiced. Jurors have to be prejudiced, otherwise they wouldn't be able to declare a winner in any contest. Everything is beautiful, funny, magical from some point of view. The judges have to decide which entry they find best based on: a) certain objective criteria...

    More than Magic

I love these threads you're starting. Please keep them up. To everybody more qualified than me to talk about this (yes, I'm looking at you, @RealityOne, @WitchDocIsIn, @obrienmagic and everybody else I just happened to forget!), please say something on this topic! I've had a similar question for...

What Gambling Material Should Look Like

Jason, I like the routine, but just out of curiosity: Is there a particular reason you call attention to the fact that the cards "all come off the top"? In my experience (which is quite limited, granted), just about nobody knows about bottom or second dealing. The only instance in which I might...

    Second Deal Resources

In that case, I'd recommend you focus on the strike second for now. Although I personally prefer the push-off second deal, the strike second is easier to get to an acceptable level. If you're using cards with a border, I also think it looks somewhat more visually deceptive (it isn't quite as...

    THE (Your) Shift

I'm enjoying reading these stories, keep them going! Especially yours touched me, Justin. It's amazing how you started performing "accidentally", and how that developed into the passion and job it is now!

The way I understand it, you're pretty much describing T11: website/app specifically for magicians: check useful for magicians: check daily basis: check - well, nearly always check Am I misunderstanding what you meant? If so, would you care to elaborate on the points I misunderstood? Thanks!

    Second Deal Resources

What kind of routine do you need the second deal for? Depending on the use (and on the grip you usually use), either the strike or the push-off second deal can be more appropriate. As Gabriel already said, EATCT explains the push-off in two different variations. If you don't own a copy...

    Dealing seconds....

Looking back, I noticed that my comment regarding hand size might have come across the wrong way: Hand size is not directly relevant to the quality of the false deal. The best example is Jason England "vs." Richard Turner. Both have incredible second deals (Richard Turner's especially are a...

    Dealing seconds....

Hi Dooper, After about a year of practicing the strike second deal (though, to be fair, not as much as other sleights) I still have a similar problem. First, one little detail that might help you: Try resting the left thumb closer to the left upper edge instead of the right one. That might...

Announcement regarding new Steve Forte book

Thank you for keeping us updated, Jason! At the Magic Café you mentioned it would have a print run of ~1500 copies. Is that number up-to-date?

Magifest Pics - Josh and Andy Talking to the Youth

Wow, it must be fantastic for you! In May there'll be a convention running parallel to the German Magic Championships, and I've been very fortunate to get a place with the "Work-Camp" (which basically means helping a few hours a day with some little things), so I can actually attend for free...

What magic books should I get? (Beginner)

Just to make things clear: I'm pretty sure @MohanaMisra meant that you don't have to buy anything other than what's been listed above, not that you shouldn't buy any more books at all from now on (didn't you?). Not trying to be a know-it-all, just trying to prevent any misunderstanding, as...

    Magicians I Hate

Oh, that's alright. I think I can safely speak for everybody in saying that we don't completely dislike Mohana Misra. In fact, it's even been suggested by some that she should be granted access to all the other forums on T11, where we talk about the real stuff. (The application's still in the...
