Day 4: still no sign of Brett...the hunt continues...but I fear something has happened.

Use a regular joker to force a card by having them insert it into the deck. Once they have the card forced on them, it appears on the joker they were holding.

I always recommend books. Even to non-beginners I suggest getting a copy of Royal Road to Card Magic, Expert Card Technique (I think you will like this one in particular), and perhaps something that focuses solely on tricks like the Encyclopedia of Card Tricks. All of these are a good foundation...
