What does everyone think of the Stack Watch?

It is an interesting concept, but ultimately I see a couple of problems with using it in performance. First, I don't see how your looking at your watch will go unnoticed, especially if you have to turn the bezel. Second, I probably won't be able to use it because I need reading glasses and...

    Cards slipping (from palm)

The gaps are what you would call "windows" between the fingers. In the first picture, your first finger has to large a window with no window between the remains fingers. Also, you need to move the card over so it doesn't stick out past your fourth (pinkie) finger. Here is my palm:

    Cards slipping (from palm)

@Littlemagicdude It is hard to tell from that angle. The better view is from the back of the hand. Try to make sure the card doesn't stick out the sides. Your hand would be too small if the gaps between your fingers show too much of the card. The one piece of advice is to have the bottom...

Making a signed card appear in a impossible location

Welcome to the forums and welcome to magic! You are off to a good start with RRTCM, Mark Wilson's Complete Course and Bobo's Modern Coin Magic. Let me start with a bit of theory. First off, if the selection seems fair to the spectators, the card doesn't need to be signed. As magicians, we...

    Cards slipping (from palm)

Your hands are not too small based on the pictures. Just relax your fingers. If your hand is tense, there are no gaps between your fingers. If it is relaxed, there are natural gaps. The gaps make your hand wider. Just make sure the card is covered and that the gaps between your fingers are...

    Ed Marlo's Revolutionary Card Technique

I'm tempted to delete this post just to reduce demand! Probably the best book by one of the best card guys ever. A lot of other dealers will be stocking it once it is in print. Make sure to get yours (only after I get mine:cool:).

    Cards slipping (from palm)

That looks good. Practice getting into grip. There are minute differences in taking a card and putting it into palm to practice your grip and where the card ends up when you have to go into it from dealing position. For example, to check you grip, I had to put a card into top palm to confirm...

    Motivation

Being scammed is not your fault. Human nature is to trust people. What happened to you is the fault of the "well known magician" who chose to scam you. With the perspective of someone a bit older, as we all go through life we make a lot of mistakes. Don't judge yourself by your mistakes...

    Cards slipping (from palm)

Your palm grip is still wrong. Move the card over toward your thumb. The edge of the card should be right where the base of your thumb connects to your hand and the card should be cover 3/4ths of your first finger. You use all four fingers to cover the palm. What book are you learning from?

    Performing mentalism as a psychic

Just a follow-up on @WitchDocIsIn's posts. I think there is a difference between performing mentalism as if you have psychic abilities and performing as a psychic. The main difference is to whom and how you market yourself. If you market yourself as a "Mentalist" or market your performance as...

    Performing mentalism as a psychic

I think there are several choices here. You can perform as if you have psychic abilities, as if you are demonstrating psychic abilities or as if you have abilities other than psychic abilities (reading body language). I think you can tell the differences with how you script the introduction to...

Welcome to the forums and welcome to magic. The book you want is Encyclopedia of Card Tricks which was originally two books written by Glenn Gravatt and then compiled into its current version by Jean Hugard. The contents are here...

    Self working card tricks resources

The plan was to get Magic Way translated then work on doing an update of Sonata. I haven't heard anything definite or if that is even still the plan. Mnemonica is solely devoted to memorized deck work.

    All Things Color Change

There is a great book on color changes called The Color Change by Crispin Sartwell. Mostly, I'll use Shape Shifter Change, Houdini / Erdnase Change and Wave Change. One of the most visual is Vanni Bossi's Golden Change where a card visibly changes as it is dealt face up to the table.

Question on Grip for Bottom Deal

Madison's left hand makes some very unnecessary moves with his wrist seemingly flicking up that makes it look unnatural. I'd start with Jason. If you look at his dealing, there is no unnecessary movement. It is perfectly executed. Learn it right the first time. I should have explained...

Question on Grip for Bottom Deal

The best grip for the bottom deal should be dealer's position /mechanic's grip (see the description in Volume 4 of Card College). For a proper dealer's grip, the thumb placement should have the thumb touching the side of the deck at the top of the side edge. You want to be able to draw a line...
