I want to start learning mentalism

Remember, what you see in videos is not the full effect. There are multiple methods to achieve those results... none of which actually involve knowing what the other person is merely thinking of.

I that the difference is the method for a vanish. For a 12 you can use a TT. For the 18, You need a pull or a hank ball. The 12 is for close up and small parlor shows, the 18 is for s large parlor / stage.

    Creating a character?

A purveyor of stories of whimsical wonder accompanied by emotion, intellectualism and awful puns. Let's start with the premise that we each emphasize different aspects of our personality when we are around different people. We are different around our parents, our significant others, our...

How To Make 6 Figues In Magic

Start with the math. Assume you will work 50 weeks in a year. You need to make $2,000 a week to make $100,000. Let's say you charge $250 for a kids show. That is eight shows a week. At $500 a show, it is only 4 shows. Part of the problem is that you have to be able to books shows during...

    Where Can I Learn This?

@jasonkillsx, I don't think that the comments here were on his appearance but rather on his performance. There is nothing in his performance that develops his character except for an annoying catchphrase. As @JoshL8 said, he has a rapid-fire performance of tricks without any presentation or...

    NFW Video (Elmsley Count)?

I don't have NFW, but from what I understand it is the same count just using a gimmick. Search the Magic Café, there are some suggestions like doing an Elmsley Count with 9 cards rather than the usual 4. You might also look at using a Hamman Count Also, make sure you are learning the Elmsley...

    Mine?

It doesn't suck. Not at all. When the sponge first vanished, I thought you used a technique often used by risqué dancers, but then when the sponge reappeared I realized that you were taking what a psychic reads and doing it backwards. The technique for the vanish is on page 79 of the...

    Magic Theft

I would distinguish between asking for sources and methods and copying presentation. I think it is OK to ask for sources and methods for effects. Some magicians like the idea of showing something they have come up with, others prefer to keep it secret. It is OK for a magician to say this is...

    Where Can I Learn This?

I genuinely question your artistic sensibilities. His performance pretty much shows everything that is wrong with the way magic is performed. I'm sure that is what he thought too. Too bad he didn't have someone to tell him otherwise. No. Please. Just NO. I will hunt you down and beat you...

I consider myself to be a magician. A little less pretentious and easier for the people I perform for to understand.

    Where Can I Learn This?

Assume most of the method is not shown on a video. BTW - That guy is awful... made it to 3:42 before I had to stop watching. He said "that's a hot one" one too many times.

Penn and Teller : fool us and it's message

My sense is that the underlying premise does contribute to the idea that magic is a contest to see if the magician can fool the audience or the audience can figure it out. Within that, entertainment and art get lost. @christopher T point is well taken about being a venue for magic on television.

    DECEPTION

My wife, son and I really liked it and are bummed that it wasn't renewed for next season -- especially after the way it ended on Sunday. I enjoyed the creativity put into the various deceptions by MW or the team. As a magician, I'm glad there wasn't anything exposed on the show that is an...
