Integrity of Using Effects You Figure Out

The second video shows Aaron's Fisher's Panic. I suspect the first video is a knock off of the effect along with a bunch of other gaff card effects. I'm not aware of any prior effect using that particular gaff. Based on what I know, it would be unethical to teach Aaron's effect because...

    Sleight of Hand Vs Misdirection

The key is in the structure and design of an effect which includes the sleights, the presentation and the misdirection arranged in a functional sequence. For good magic, the three are inseperable. The term misdirection is often used incorrectly. I like Tommy Wonder's definition which is...

Performing Card Tricks for Children's Show?

One other thing that I wanted to point out is that doing magic for children is actually more difficult than doing magic for adults. It is much more difficult to keep their interest and much worse when they lose interest (how may adults will stand up and yell out "Mommy, I'm bored" when you are...

Performing Card Tricks for Children's Show?

@GrahamHorgan they are two very different books. Mark Wilson's Complete Course will give you the best introduction to every type of magic. The Approach is about becoming a professional magician. You started this thread by saying you are very much a beginner to performing magic. I think...

    Which Deck to get?

@kolebear, for magic, there really isn't a significant difference in handling among any of the premium decks. Buy a deck that you will like performing with and that fits your style. There is nothing wrong with Bicycles. They are pretty much the standard for most magicians. Also, you don't...

Tally Ho cards - deck of single card

Not that I'm aware of. It will cost around $120 to get 48 decks. If you only use one color Tally-Ho, you can get 48 decks at Theory 11 and have 52 forcing decks. If you like different colors, check out Kardwell's Tally Ho Pinochle Decks (each deck has 2 of the 9,10,J,Q,K,A for each...

    About Time.

There is mental practice which is a conscious focus on what you need to subconsciously do. There also is mental rehearsal of what you are going to say and what you need to do for routines.

Performing Card Tricks for Children's Show?

Unfortunately, not. Nonetheless, it is the best book out there for beginners. The more you learn about magic, the more you learn that the methods in that book are pretty advanced. In another thread, people are talking about Wayne Houchin's French Kiss being based on Scarne's Switchcraft. For...

A Full Show from Mark Wilson's Complete Course in Magic

I've often mentioned that you could do a full show using Mark Wilson's Complete Course in Magic. I've done a bunch of methods and effects from those books including the Coin Through Pant Leg, the Bigger Card Trick, Bill to Lemon, Three Way Test, Tic-Tac-Toe Prediction and Chapstick Caper. So...

Performing Card Tricks for Children's Show?

Do not take a children's show and just do card tricks. None of the tricks you have named would work for children's show. Entertaining children is very different than performing card tricks for adults. You, the magician, have to be entertaining. The magic needs to be understandable and you...

Is The Expert at The Card Table really all that?

Signed by Erdnase? Very cool! An interesting series of events. Expert at the Card Table was published in 1901. In 1940 Expert Card Technique was published by Jean Hugard and Fred Braue with the title intentionally being similar to EatCT as an attempt to be the most comprehensive book on card...

Is The Expert at The Card Table really all that?

I think Madison and Erdnase have a lot in common. Neither are that great but lots of people think otherwise. Also, despite my love for Martin Gardner's work in puzzles, math and magic, it is likely that his guess as to the identity of Erdnase is incorrect.

    Three card poker trick

Illegally downloading intellectual property is not cool. Respect the law if you can't respect the art. That will be the last time I respond to one of your posts with a source because I don't want to have any part of your stealing people's intellectual property.

    Three card poker trick

I think the effect you are talking about is the Ten Card Poker Deal. You can find a bunch of variations here: http://archive.denisbehr.de/show.php?cat=1578 Dani DaOrtiz teaches a great version in his live lectures / workshop -- not sure if it is on DVD or a recorded lecture. Also, Bob...

    Card Press

Card presses do work, but I'd avoid Magic Makers - they specialize in cheap knock offs. Also, the card press that you linked to only has pressure in the middle. Not the best if you want your cards to be uniform. This looks more effective because of the six pressure points and it is much less...

    New Video from my buddy

That quote pretty much sums it all up. To see the reactions for the routines that are mine or have become mine is amazingly rewarding, especially considering the amount of time put into the routines. For me, performance ready takes four months to several years. Part of the simularities is...
