    Force From A Bag?

To force the numbers do what I mentioned about having a deck of numbered cards and applying Crossing the Gaze principle. For the fruits, use equivoque. I think it is explained very well in Mark Wilson's book in his Bill in Lemon routine. Knowledge, including the Crossing the Gaze...

    Force From A Bag?

There is a paper force bag described in Mark Wilson's Complete Course that is easy to make. I know it is used in the Bigger Card Trick. You can also get clear force bags from any magic dealer. I don't like these because they don't look real. Best to try and make your own using gallon Ziploc...

Best effect for $50.00 and under?

The problem with your request is that you will find everyone will say their favorite requests... which may or may not work for you. So a couple of options: 1. Get Paul Harris's Art of Astonishment, Volume 1. For $33 you will have a ton of amazing effects... one of which you will think is the...

Hey Cat. Welcome back to magic. Give me a budget of what you would be willing to spend to develop a couple of street magic sets and a hospital set. I'll then give you suggestions within that budget.

    'Vortex' by Tom Stone

David: Some advice. You seem to be just starting out and I understand your excitement (seriously -- I get excited everytime I hear about a new book and that is why I have over a 125 magic books on my shelf). You may want to wait on this book until you've learned the basics. A good start...

Good Magic that can be viewed from far away?

The $35 is for a year's subscription to Genii. For linking rings, relatively cheap is, well relative, especially when I paid close to $400 for my set and think they are relatively cheap compared to sets that are more than $750. This website here...

Good Sponge ball routine or Balls and cups?

David: I want to make sure you know that sponge balls and cups & balls are separate effects. You seem to be confusing the two in your post. Neither sponge balls or cups & balls are very hard to learn but, like all magic are somewhat hard to master. It just takes some work and practice to...

Good Magic that can be viewed from far away?

David: First off, most parlor and stage routines are not performed surrounded. You have 90 to 180 degrees behind you covered by the back of the room / back of the stage. Even with busking, you will have your back angles covered. The distances you are talking about is what is called parlor...

Good Sponge ball routine or Balls and cups?

Get Michael Ammar's Cups and Balls DVDs. I think the best price is on his website here: http://www.ammarmagic.com/cupsballs.html. You also can get his book as an e-book here: http://llepub.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=32. Michael is the master. Any set of cups would do...

    Any recommended Montes?

Agreed. That move shouldn't fly by anyone... but it does. I do the alignment before I say "then it is the top card." That puts a pause between the alignment and the turnover.

    Any recommended Montes?

Color Monte. Had actually pulled it out last night and performed it for my wife and son -- they loved it. It has a humorous presentation and a completely unexpected ending.

    IM NEW!!!

Thanks for the compliment, Bryant. Drew: I will echo what Brett and Leigh said about Royal Road to Card Magic. It is a great starting point for sleight of hand with cards. You might also consider getting Scarne on Card Tricks. That has a lot of effects that can be performed with minimal...

Packet Trick & the Bottom Deal

Witchita Slip won't work effectively with a packet. It requires a full deck.

    Blaine's Mentalism

If you find one, that would be real magic.

    Blaine's Mentalism

Never underestimate the power of pre-show work combined with dual reality (where the spectator sees one effect and the audience sees a more impressive effect). For "street" or "impromptu" magic for a small group, it would have to look different. For stage or parlor, it could look exactly the...

    Appearing Cane Help?

I've got a plastic one, so this might not apply. As you are collapsing it, turn the bottom counter clockwise (it might be clockwise -- don't have mine handy).

    Favorite books

This is tough. If you asked me books for a certain purpose, I could come up with a list easily. But my favorites. That's tough. I'm not going to list most useful books (like Card College and Tarbell) because I view those as tools. My favorites have to be the books that I've enjoyed reading...

    Engagment and Misdirection.

OK, reread my prior post. It is all in there. First off, think direction (looking at something) rather than misdirection (looking away from something). What can the spectator pay attention to instead of the deck? Second, think about design. The direction (to something other than the deck)...

    Engagment and Misdirection.

Oops. I meant that Showmanship for Magicians (the first book in the Fitzke Trilogy) isn't too helpful because it is a relfection of the time in which it is written. Henning Nelms's Magic and Showmanship is a great book and is the best theory book for the price.
