    Happy birthday JB!

Happy Birthday Bayme! You sound like a busy man, take some time to put your feet up and relax with a refreshing beverage of your choice. (insert Bo Burnham reference) "Boys and girls are all sippin on beer I like soda, wheres the soda Am I the only f'n person here that likes soda" :)...

T11 members:: What magic effects are you performing?

I like to open with Every Card's a Joker...an ACR-esk sequence where every card appears to be a joker...and then there are no jokers (idea from Henry Hay, handling is different from his book). I also open with Simple coin work, a one coin routine or c/s transpo. I perform, regularly: OOTW...

Bicycle Rider Backs - Keeping them clean

When rotating decks I usually practice with a deck until it's 'broken in', if I practice certain things it could take an hour or it could take a few days. I then use those decks for performing until they start to get dirty and 'soft'. I always keep those decks to practice with as well until...

    Magic as a Human

The too perfect theory doesn't apply to technical precision. The too perfect theory is basically what magicians strive for when making magic for magicians (waste of time). An envelope inside of a locked box inside of a time controlled vault opened by a spectator reveals a card that was signed...

    Is this a new idea?

I've never heard of it, theoretically possible, I have a few ideas though I'm not sure how well they would work. I'll pm you the initial thoughts and problems.

    classic palm

Mr. Ection nailed it on the head, where you hold it and how often are the two keys. Practice with the half dollar, but eventually you'll want to be able to do it with larger and smaller coins. Being able to classic palm quarters is a great asset for impromptu performances. I know a guy who...

    Ultimate "King" Assembly ...

I agree with Shodan, the first placement doesn't need to be over done. A simple addition or switch technique can do the trick. The handling was smooth, would have liked to hear the presentation rather than the music, especially since you were actually interacting with your audience (not just...

    Anate by Dee Christopher

I have a few outs, depending on how I'm setup. Anate is a killer, works often enough that outs aren't necessary, but they're also easy to think up. I'd recommend this to anyone who loves linguistics or wants an always ready piece of mentalism that leaves people amazed.

    Some thoughts?

No problem, I'm not quite sure if it was 100% on topic, but I do my best. It really is a great change. I really like one of his others that starts with two cards in the hand and changes them in the process of setting it down. There's at least one gem for everyone in that little book.

    Thoughts? Anyone?

Nice hint. It goes for everything, magic related the wolf did a good job. I'll try to explain it slightly different though. Laymen know three things about magic: It's up our sleeve, you must have palmed it, and we have very fast hands. Even if none of it is true...they know this much...

New 1-on-1 : The Double Lift with Jason England

After watching the One on One, the DL's he teaches aren't overly flashy. He's not showing Dan and Dave style doubles, most of them are pretty tame. I found one I'll be using and one I'll probably practice for fun, as well as lots of little tips here and there. The books he recommends getting are...

    Some thoughts?

I think a good reason for the lack of 'hard work' needed for any one effect, or the whole range of magic for some magicians is where they get their start. I own a 4th Edition copy of The Amateur Magician's Handbook by Henry Hay and after a short introduction of the author followed by a quick...

    Portal Addition

I watched it through once and it was okay. The plot isn't horrible, a bit confusing, but that is easily worked out. Take the kings off first, set them aside. If you flip both over together lift 3 and show, put them down switching order...it'll accomplish the same thing a little smoother...

New 1-on-1 : The Double Lift with Jason England

I deleted the rest, how you want to do magic is totally up to you, but let's be honest, what do we do that is natural to laymen? Isn't that the point of them being laymen, we do things differently, we're more crisp when we shuffle (or sloppier if you're Lennart Green) and we do the...

    Ethics Question

I see nothing wrong with it. I remember the instructions that came with the one I most recently bought, they were horrid. I already knew the basic work and have been messing with Svengali's for a while now so it didn't phase me as much. It's also good to know someone is willing to help their...

    Which way would you prefer?

I'll answer with my most recent mistake. I was performing a trick I had just gotten performance ready, took it to my normal starting audiences. Made my girlfriend sit through it, she liked the effect and thought the presentation was good. Showed it to my dad who was bewildered and...

    Card Forces

The classic does appear fair, but overall the most 'out of control' way to have a card selected is mentally or give them the deck and tell them to pull one out. It's increasingly difficult to force cards this way though, so we'll stick with the ones we know can be forced. The classic...

    Card Forces

I use the riffle force taught in Card College Vol. 1. From the bottom I have a force I learned at the Carolina Close-up Convention, I think Steve Beam taught it, it's hard to explain but I think it's the force taught in Josh Jay's Complete Course. It's full proof from the bottom and easy as...

How many decks do you have ... ?

I can get a better count at home, but somewhere around 60 total. About 10 of those are in my circle of 'use' right now. (a few practice decks that are almost spare cards, a few performance ready, and some I recently opened to break in and use.) I also have a few boxes of just extra cards...

    Table Hopping Question

Great question. I don't know. How much are you worth? Where do you live, and are there other magicians already working in the area? Is this a one time deal, once a month, or five nights a week? This will help with letting you know how much. I can't generalize it because I've yet to...
