I encourage you to burn the cards from different sources of fire / heat as well as from different distances away. You can get different burn patterns, markings, etc.

Many of you may disagree with me but I practice when I want and have no set schedule. If I practice for 15 minutes one day....fine. If I go a week without a deck in my hands..fine. If I practice 2 hours one day and skip the next...fine. I make sure that I am having fun and not getting burned...

Silent Running is a great effect. I agree with the "too perfect" theory. I do not like revelations that look "too good to be true" I like more natural revelations or ones that are not "set in stone" so to speak. Just my preference.

I learned a lot of my gaff making skills from the "Art of Card Splitting" Martini DVD. It is difficult work but well worth it if you get good at it. Great DVD by the way. He shows how to make some great gimmicked cards and gives you applications for them.
