How hard do you hold the cards?

I believe a magician once said "For X amount of years (I forgot the real number) I held the cards too tightly". You really just want to hold the cards so you have control on them and can keep them in your hand. Don't hold them too hard.

    Resolutions

I see a few people talking about presentation and someone mentioned Maximum Entertainment. I highly recommend that book for everyone in magic. I would recommend you all buy that book before you buy another "trick" book or DVD. The book will help you so much in magic and life.

Like Steve and Steerpike said your introduction is huge! Focus on that almost more than anything.

    You are not an artist!

I would explore more points than giving joy but honestly there are too many to cover. So many things come into play with being a magician/ artist but I do feel that spectators and giving them joy and happiness are key.

    You are not an artist!

Not really (answer to your last sentence)...I basically agree.

    You are not an artist!

I see what you are saying but time also doesn't really define if you are an artist or not. Someone could say they were into magic 25 years but not be as dedicated to it as someone that has been into magic for 5 years. Most likely more experience and time will mean more dedication and more...

    You are not an artist!

Ha ha thank you for reading it. I would love to hear what you disagree with considering you as well put out great ideas and thoughts. Basically I want you to disagree with me because I am still thinking this whole thing through and would love to hear other ideas! I love debates!

    You are not an artist!

I basically agree with you that many people are at different stages in the magic "artist" field. Some are minor artists while others are exceptional artists.

    You are not an artist!

In response to my post if it wasn't very clear I feel that many of us are not exceptional artists. We all have a lot to work on but I feel if you are dedicated to your art you are an artist and should work to really become an exceptional artist and advance the art of magic.

    You are not an artist!

I haven’t really heard of you too much before Steerpike. It sounds as though you have had some pretty heated debates in the past. I remember seeing your name and those long posts but I was never interested in them. I wasn’t truly an artist then. Since then I have grown I truly believe I am...

    Walking Away

Nice job. I really liked when you used editing to get the card to spin on your finger...it was pretty sweet. Also as for the DM wannabe comment I also don't think you were trying to be like DM at all. P.S. Was that a ONE wristband I saw??? If not my bad it just looked like one (I wear...

    Chris Kenner - Site Down

I think that Katie send in a post one time that the website was just made by a random person like a fan and it was not really Chris's official website. I could be wrong on that though.

    Double Lift - Info Needed

Do the lift that feels most comfortable. Always aim to fool your spectators, not magicians (I think this quote was made by Harry Houdini in the book Houdini on Magic but I could be wrong on that).

    Who is Worse?

Honestly everyone just answer the question and don't bash. Penn and Teller are two of the most experienced magicians you will see. Sure they might reveal some of their tricks but it really isn't that big of a deal. They are masters of engaging their audience through interaction and comedy.
