    Hecklers- The Essay

Hecklers Hecklers are considered by many, including me, to be the “bully” of magicians. I define a heckler as basically anybody who rudely interrupts you in the middle of your performance. There are many things that spectators can do to “qualify” as hecklers, including: shouting out the...

    Exposure- The Essay

Exposure If you're a magician, you probably knew what this essay is about as soon as you read the title. And, for the most part, what it is going to say. Many magicians and lay people alike are aware of the fact that, in recent years, there have been websites, books, and even television...

    Confidence- The Essay

Confidence and How to Build It Confidence- belief in oneself and one’s powers or abilities; self-confidence; self-reliance; assurance In this essay, I hope to cover the subject of confidence to the best of my abilities. This will include building the amount of confidence you have in...

    I love my Guardians, but...

The Card Guard Superior is not the same thing as the Joe Porper Clip. The Card Guard protects your cards from things such as heat, humidity, etc. But a Joe Porper Clip would actually flatten out the cards, and make them look like new. Except the edges might be dirty.

    Superman Coin Bend

    Indeed he is.

    The Self Tying Shoelace

For those of you who are saying the gimmick is a little cheap for what you get... you aren't paying for the gimmick perse', but rather paying for the explanation, performance tips, etc. that are on the DVD. I personally don't have Animated Shoelaces, but I heard that involves putting fishing...

    Ghost Deck

Cool story. I head a story of a guy that left his Ghost Deck out in a field ovenight and it rained. The next morning he found the deck, and put them in his Joe Porper Card Clip, and within 10 minutes or so, they were back to normal. I think this was on the review for the Joe Porper Cad Clip...

    Emerge Triumphant by Oz Pearlman

You'd have to be very fast to do the setup in a minute. It usually takes me two at the least, because I make sure that I do it right. Also, if you don't have all the cards in the deck, obviously the ending won't look right.

    Blindsided by Oz Pearlman

I personally wouldn't do it twice. It's what I like to call an anti-climax. I think the first one hits 'em hard, and the second one would only take away from the effect. IMHO, of course.

Dan and Dave Hidden Footage - Music?

I don't remember this particular music, but I have to say that my favorite "score" was the one used in Dan White's video/the Distortion preview. Good job on the music!

No problem, I'm glad they helped you.

Performing Magic in School Part I

Great, I hope it helps, as well. To be quite honest with you, I failed on a "mind reading" effect today, but then nailed it with someone else about 2 minutes later. It was a very on-the-spot thing (the effect, that is), and I know this goes against everything we magicians should do... I made...

What does your screen name mean?

Adjones- well, my name is Andrew Mitchell Jones (Drew to those who know me), and my Dad's name is Andrew David Jones (Andy), and he made an account over at Penguin to buy me some b-day magic, and I wanted access to the PO Forums, so he handed me over the account, and now I'm adjones everywhere. :)

    The Self Tying Shoelace

It's definitely a good effect, but like I said before, it's too popular. There is also a downside to performing this when it's hot outside... owners will know what I mean. I recently had someone come up to me and say, "Hey, you're the guy that can tie his shoes without touching them!" It was...

    The Self Tying Shoelace

I like it, as well, but it's just revealed so much, I don't really want to perform it at school, because I know at least one person will rush to their computer as soon as they get home and look up the secret. Great trick... jus too popular.

Performing Magic in School Part I

I perform mainly before classes. We only have four minutes to get between classes, but I don't jack around in the hallways and waste my time. That way I have at least 3 minutes to perform... well, at best. I usually only do one effect before class, and I make sure that I have permission from...

    B-2 Bomber

It can be obvious... with poor performance! To me, it's 75% performance, 25% effect. I like the Stealth Pen better than the B-2 Bomber, but I don't have Misled. It is on my wishlist, though.

Performing Magic in School Part II

Hmm... tough subject to help with, but I'll do my best. There was a time in my magic when I doubted myself, as well... in fact, it was here recently, after I screwed up a couple of tricks I have been doing... forever. I obviously put myself down, but that's not the way to deal with it...

Performing Magic in School Part I

Yes, I agree with you, school is a horrible place to perform magic. But, the argument to this is that it will prepare you for real performance situations. School is the toughest place to perform. Even if you mess up/get hecklers on your first effect, the only place to go is up, right...
