I think Sankey fooled Penn and Teller

I felt the same way with David Regal's performance. I'm really surprised at the choice.

Best effect for $50.00 and under?

    So ridiculously shameless... :(

Best effect for $50.00 and under?

My favorites: On the spot by Gregory wilson is fantastic. As well I've gotten a lot of mileage out of Stigmata. However if you want to really have something visual I would be remiss to not recommend Cointum-leap ;p

    Recommendations on tricks

Welcome! Don't forget to check out the books and videos in your library! I found a wealth of stuff there when I was starting out!

When do you make the switch?

I would agree, I think it's about the performers attitude more than anything. Once they start performing for people (rather than just playing tricks or bar bets), their attitude changes. A young kid can perform at birthday parties and is far more a magician than a person using magic tricks to...

    Any recommended Montes?

Oh yes I forgot about the Ultimate 3 Card monte - very fun. I perform color monte routine with a 2 of hearts, a 2 of spades and a joker. I should bust that out more. I often forget about it.

Good Sponge ball routine or Balls and cups?

Sponge balls are relatively simple to learn, and are actually a fun way to learn sleight of hand because not only is it easier to learn, but also teaches you to get into other people's space (touching their hands etc). You might start by picking this up and watching the video that comes with it...

Good Magic that can be viewed from far away?

Great questions David, Google will be your best friend for exploring what these are. It's great to see some routines and see if if it's something you can make work for you. I like the size of the Ninja Rings. Look very nice in person.

    Any recommended Montes?

Color Monte is wonderful. If you're looking to learn a classic monte, there are a ton of resources on the moves. Back in the day I used to love the pea/shell game - a haven't done that in years. I purchased stand up monte (G. Thomas) but never took the time to learn it, but it got stellar reviews.

How far away are you talking?

Good Sponge ball routine or Balls and cups?

Just about any sponge ball routine is an entertaining one. Penguin magic had one when you bought sponge balls (By Oz Pearlman) but a DVD like Sponge would equip you with a ton of moves to use to create a great routine. There's also some stuff in Mark Wilson's course as well.

    Routining Help

Just thinking about it, I wonder if people know any good books on this subject. Anyone?

    Routining Help

You want two - three effects in a set (about 5-8 minutes all together) Each set (as mentioned above) should have some similar element that ties them together (those are good ideas too). Than can be tricks with similar props, or a story or theme that ties them all together. This is the part...

For those who have participated in the 'Fake Reveal' contests

I just had to report one user for death threats and threatening my family. I always delete his comments because they are grossly inappropriate, but he started to cross the line. Mostly people just trash me because I'm exposing magic lol

    IM NEW!!!

Welcome! I was also just thinking that one of the best things I did was go to the library. I took out every single book I could find on the subject. There were even some videos that were there.

    Tenyo Tuesday! - 'Impossible Pen'

Thanks for this. I haven't heard of this one. How examinable are the props for this one? Looks like my daughter could pull this off easy enough. Intriguing indeed. Great review, now I'm very interested in the workings of this.

    Invisible Card

It does look cool. Funny thing, I'm pretty sure I know the method because I was creating a fake reveal video for the trick Inferno and came up with what I believe is the exact same method. Using a crude version I showed my wife the video and she said - hey that could actually be a good trick. So...
