    Job

Well, to throw in my 2 cents, there is some great advice here. Katie's advice is a good question to ask yourself. And be honest. However, when you are ready to jump in, you should read some books on working in restaurants, that may cost you some coin, but will be very worth it. You likely know...

    Kids at the Restaurant?

Professors nightmare with a good ending is nice. Sankey has an ending on one of his older dvd`s where they all become one long rope. It works great. I never liked kids touching my cards. They too often bent them. My old table routine with kids (there was never a lot of kids where I worked)...

    Show us your business card!

I think that would be really good if you had a really good gambling demonstration in your show! Or did a memorable coin routine with chips instead j

Would you change your performance for Females/Males?

Well, a lot of my performances vary depending on how the audience reacts. It's not really a male female thing. It's not like I'm trying to pick up chicks or anything. Generally women are more vocal, so I like to approach the most vocal person in the group. Their reactions almost 'give...

    I'm Back---and I've Got Something to Say

Hey all, I was thinking about the same sort of thing. Here's a snippit form something I posted over at penguin in a discussion about TA. I hope it adds: ...about the reason or premise of an effect... I want to point out that the magician needs to add a premise to any effect they perform...

    Cost for Show/Stroll

    Great advice Brad.

    Cost for Show/Stroll

Keep in mind a strolling gig is different than working a restaurant gig. If you are a regular performer at a restaurant, you would not charge what you would for table hoping/strolling at a special event like a wedding.

    Cost for Show/Stroll

Hm, that's tough. It varies with each restaurant/city etc, but think of it this way: You want the restaurant to make it's money back and then make a profit because you are there. So if you are going to charge say 25/ hour, for perhaps 3 hours, then you need to convince the restaurant, that they...

    Strongest Mentalism Effects?

Hmm, there are some interesting things here. I have been looking for a really strong piece of mentalism to close my show with. I have toyed with impossible card predictions, newspaper predictions, serial number predictions, locked boxes with predictions inside etc, but I have found that when...

    True Astonishments or Not?

I would actually agree. I love the TA set, but find some great books and get those. Even Art of Astonishment series. And as always, it depends what type of effects you are looking for and who your audience is, yadda yadda. justin

    Recent Study Shows That...

I think a big part of it is preemptive awareness. In the restaurant, by observing a table I could get a sense of who may or may not be trouble. Avoid these people if possible, and if you can, involve them and make them the 'hero' of an effect. Avoid making a fool out of them or trying to 'trick'...

    Richard Sanders does it again!

I was thinking the same thing about Sankey's effect. It's also similar to backlash from Paul Harris' latest set. Neither of those use gimmicks, but I like Sanders' effect. It seems much clearer. j

Thanks for sharing. Sorry to hear about that. We actually pray for China quite often. It is a very sad situation over there. I hope things change radically over there. Thanks. Justin
