Need help with the classic pass.

Hey, RD Chopper, man I wish I could have seen that video three years ago when I started practicing the pass. Excellent advice!

Thoughts on Little Man by Paul Harris?

I believe this is why the effect is so pricey, Paul must have felt very strongly about both the effect itself, and the method involved. He probably just didn't want some kid with a little extra cash to burn picking this up and not put the practice into making this effect look great. Chances...

    The Novels

I really do not think it is possible to have such a widely accessible forum such as this one and not have the same subjects repeated a plethora of times. That is just the price we all pay to have such a popular forum for magicians and magic enthusiasts. It's not that bad though. In a way...

    card trix for newbies?

I'll tell you what, i'm going to have to agree with this above statement. See, when I started out wanting to learn sleight of hand close up magic, I spent around 120 dollars on the Ellusionist DVD bundle. Although I don't regret doing this because I learned a lot from those, I wish I would...

    Shell Issue

If it is an expanded shell and the coin is getting stuck inside of it, the shell is probably defective. Most likely there is a bend on the lip of it. I would contact who ever you purchased this from and tell them about the issue your having. Hopefully, they could either send you a new one or...

    Marketing Myself

Besides business cards, there is all ways The Yellow Pages, cable access, and your own website. In my opinion, nothing could compare with the combined power of business cards, constant performance, and word of mouth.

    2 deck effects

You probably won't have this mastered by the time you perform, but if you are interested in effects that use two decks; check out "Dead Man's Hand" by Brother John Hamman. It is one of the most magical and entertaining "gambling-themed" card tricks I could think of.

    Use for doubleback?

You can do a lot of stuff with a double backer. I use a double backer in the classic two card reversal trick. At the end I can fairly ribbon spread the deck to show the two selections reversed with no suspicious movement.

    Liquify and Watermark?

On the DVD The Sankey/Skutt Sessions, Mike Skutt has an effect called "Mr. Tea" that also resembles these two effects, but again uses a completely different method.

Need help with the classic pass.

I'm interested in knowing what resource you are using to try and learn the classic pass Sidekick. I learned it from multiple resources myself, including Card College, that Ellusionist DVD Ninja and other various resources. You could use all the misdirection in the world, but there will still...

I thought it was pretty cool! Good job!

    Backlash 2 from True Astonishment

Actually, i've heard stories of bar/restaurant magicians doing the effect as is and leaving the spectators with the playing card that now has the performer's name and a business card, with great success. I do, however see where you guys are going with this. No matter how you look at it, the...

Paul Harris' Whack Your Pack - Live... in a Santa Hat

HA HA yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Awesome performance man, everyone at the table seemed like they enjoyed it.

    Magic Books

I'm just going to throw this out there. Regardless of what book you buy, check this site out: http://www.magicbookshop.com/ The company owner's name is Richard Hatch and he is a professional magician himself and incredibly nice! He sells DVDs also, but specializes in magic books. He also...

Getting started in restaurant/walk around magic.

I aspire to become a restaurant magician myself and i'm going to pass on some advise that my good friend Steve Reynolds gave me. Before I give you the advice let me just say that Steve currently performs steady gigs at four different restaurants, six days a week in the New Orleans area. Before...

    Practice, Art, and Elephants

Actually, the only thing that I disagreed with was the fact that you said you could tell, generally, who would be a good spectator simply by body language, the clothes they wear, and overall appearance, etc. I mean, I love magic! I'm obsessed with it. However, when i'm not performing and out...

    Practice, Art, and Elephants

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this! While I don't agree with everything that was said, you made a lot of good valid points and said a few things that i've been wanting to say for years that I just could not put into words. Very well done! I loved the Prestige by the way!

    Talking to Laymen

I absolutely agree scarecrow, Paul Harris's The Art of Astonishment really opened my mind to the idea of doing magic with anything. Now this is right out of the Art of Astonishment, so it can't be considered "not using a book for magic", but it is an example of using any object to obtain a...
