    I agree with Lamb3rt, get your tricks from books. One Degree by John Guastaferro has some amazingly strong magic that you can't find the answers for on youtube or anywhere on the internet. If you really want to cover yourself research a trick you want to learn, make sure you can't find it...

    Do both, watch the dvd first without anything to hand to get an overall summary. Then watch it again following along. I think you should follow along as many times as it takes (duh), then practice from memory. After a while watch the dvd again without anything to hand to look for any bad habits...
