I second the suggestion of Slights of Mind, it is a good basic look at the neurological processes that make the human brain susceptible to being tricked. And as others have said, Apollo Robbins is definitely the guy to look to if you want to see misdirection in it's purest form.

Feed the hungry, heal the sick, stop global warming, save endangered species, that sort of thing.

What do you think is the reason people do magic? How much time do you spend working on scripting for an effect? Is magic piracy as big of a deal as it is made out to be?

Yes, yes I do. I believe that the more you play to the expectations of the audience the more often you will amaze people. Back design is less important because it is obvious, but deck size is not as readily noticeable, so it will feel the deck is just unusual as opposed to a "really cool deck."

And it is better to do magic with poker sized cards because they are most common in non magic life and tend to draw less suspicion.

All of the decks sold here should be poker size.
