Advice and Tips on Performance

Thanks for sharing your video. There are a few things I would say about it. in my opinion, I think the actual presentation needs more work, it kinda comes off too narrarator style. With a better patter the effect will flow more easily. The girls reactions (although she never said it) seemed more like a "he's good with cards" type instead of a "magic" feeling, just my opinion. As far as the handling, I would say you should work on your DL to make it look more smooth. When I perform a DL the main difference is I just flip the card over only like halfway then let it fall back to the deck on its own. I think letting it fall on its own would look better only because from what I see, it seems like your putting a tight grip on the cards and not letting go until it hits the deck. In the end, I still give you props for going out and performing, that's always a good thing. Well that's just my .02 cents for now.

Yes i would have to agree your DL really need improvment. what i would
suggest not just for you but anyone who wants to do great DL is getting
gregory wilson's double takes dvd, you will also learn the replacement wich
is a huge part in doing doubles. also your elmsley count should be done from
a mechanics grip it will look much better.

I normally will do much nicer double lift. A couple of weeks ago i got caught doing a double lift when i was using some really worn out cards. I have been hesitant in going back to my normal doubles in fear of getting caught! Thank You for the advice. I think i will make the switch back to a nicer looking double! Thanks

Your DL is WAAAAYYYYY too "forceful" Ha ha. There is not need to slam it down like that. When you turn the card to the 90 degree mark, the two cards should actually fall on top of the deck as one in a smooth carefree manner. This is what many of the other guys are saying as well. You need to have a much looser presentation with it. I know it is scary to do it in that type of manner but that is how it needs to be done.

The Elmsley's weren't too far off but as mentioned....if you do them from the mechanics grip or push them off diagonally instead of side to side...it looks much better.

Thanks for posting and being open to feedback. I am brutally honest when I give feedback because too many times, including in my own club / IBM ring, everyone pats each other on the back even when there effects look horrid.

On the presentation side of things, just keep having fun with it. Make sure you let your personality come through your tricks. The spectators will have fun when you are having fun. It looks like your doing that already in your video. Do you use a standard script for patter? Or do you just go with the flow?
