Did you ever said to yourself: I'd rather not know how this effect was done, just because you want to be impressed. I sometimes have the feeling that I'm not really impressed by magic anymore, because I don't really look at the trick, but I only try to figure it out. Sometimes it does annoy me. But knowing that I impress other people is the thing that puches me. That's why I sometimes ask myself: What would it be if I never learned magic? What do you guys think?

Not so unusual, it's one of those things that will come and go over time. I've had many days of wanting to throw everything into the trash and walk away. I even sold off a show long ago and made a good try of getting totally out of magic but found myself drug right back in.
When it comes to "figuring out effects" I'll only do that when it comes to grand illusions usually; mainly because that was my world for so many years. I've deliberately ignored huge niche groups within magic just so it would stay enchanting for me. As much as I rag on about playing cards the truth of the matter is, I love watching someone that is solid and knows their way around a deck; I enjoy it because I don't know a lot about that particular niche. Same goes with other particulars in that I personally don't need to know those things. Far too many magic buffs think the contrary and do their best to "learn it all" and in the process fail to learn how to be good and proficient at one thing. I've had two chief specialties (though a 3rd kind of over-laps into things) that's been Grand Illusion and Mentalism/Bizarre Magick; these are the areas within the craft I excel and give most a good run for their money when it comes to knowledge & understanding. That's not bragging on my part but what I expect of myself when it comes to LEARNING a key part of this or any other craft I might venture into. I believe that's how one "wins" when it comes to any vocation, but when it comes to Magic, it is what allows us to not become overly jaded and still experience just a small glimpse every now and then, of things that will amaze and amuse us.

Yeah, I love being fooled! I try to be very careful of what magic I learn because I enjoy not knowing it all. I just love being fooled! When others perform magic poorly I find myself fuzzing out my eyes just to miss the secret 
This isn't really a problem for me. I rarely watch magic performance (most of it doesn't hold my interest), and when I do, I don't look for methods. I often see them, due to poor performances, but I don't look for a method unless I decide to look for one.
Part of this, I think, is because when I see someone else do a trick, I have no desire to do it myself. If someone does an interesting and new (to me) trick, that's their thing. Not mine. I don't need to know how he or she does it, I have my own material that I use and that material is the best stuff for me.

I did get bored of magic for few months and pretty much took all my books and DVD's and cards and put the in closet and just went and did other things. Then before I moved, I looked at all the E cards I had and was like "Ok that is just way too many." and pretty much tossed them all in the trash. I got back into it around 3 months ago when I decided to reboot and retool myself and properly focus on only the good stuff and ideas and ignore all the new effects coming out.
It's always good to recharge your batteries, this goes for anything out there. There are a ton of hobbies and careers out there where the person doing them can get bored with what they are doing after awhile.
