I have worked with MANY different bends over the years, allow me to relate my findings;
-Morgan Strebler's Closer- I can't believe this hasn't been mentioned yet! This is wonderful. truly beautiful visuals and very magical.
-Sean Fields various coin bends- All great. All of his metal bending techniques are worth your time and effort.
-Jay Sankey's primetime bend- Wonderful for a quickie, very visual.
-Dee Christophers Altered- Yeah he's my boy but I'm totally unbiased, this bend is just great. Very magical, sure-fire and Very well thought out. It also carries the Mindlapse hallmark- Simple mechanics, overblown impact!
-Kris Rubens Extreme bend- As part of his CSExtreme collection of effects, the work on this is amazing. It looks like this- The performer has a couple coins on the table. He has the spectator vocally choose one. He takes the coin, rubs it and it bends. Nothing to ditch. Can be as quick or slow as one likes and may be done one handed with almost NO handling changes. This ones good. Again, he's a friend but I'm unbiased.
-David Harkeys coin bend- This one foregoes the open, clean handling of most modern coin bends, and instead adds some of the most interesting visual hooks I've seen for a coin bend. The coin is dropped into a cup of hot coffee, where the liquid begins to bubble and froth. When the liquid is slowly poured out, it is seen that the coin has bent while totally isolated.
-The paths for coin bending that I generally take these days are my own touches on standards- I may almost instantly bend a coin while it is isolated in full view, spinning on a table, I may make the spectator feel the coin heating up as it bends in her hands, or I may bend it with a slow methodical rub while it rests on her palm. I love all of the bends I have mentioned in almost equal measure
