Bicycle ProPeek

I was browsing Target the other day and decided to pick up a red and blue deck of these cards some have talked about to add to my collection never intending to open them. I went back today and decided I will get another 2 to open and see how they look as well as feel.

They actually feel like a pack of standard Bikes and the backs are very eye appealing to me, except the edges felt and looked real weird. I played with them a bit and I flipped a card over in the middle of the deck and it was visible and stuck out like a sore thumb? I pulled the advert card and read about the ProCut Edge. The ProCut Edge is "A Barely visible beveled edge that grips fingers for better control during shuffling." Well to me it is VERY visible and when a card is turned over in the deck more visible and also makes a nice natural break spot. With a little practice I am sure one can use this natural break in a few sleights.

The faces on these cards are a bit weird. They have a small Pip and card number in each corner turned at a 45 degree angle (Poker Peek) and a rather large number in each edge. The pips and royalty are in the center of the card held within a small box, looks like a small card in the center. With the small pip and number in all four corners this may be the idea deck for the left handers doing fans. The finish feels and looks like the standard Bike's Airflow Finish. The backs on these cards are very simple and uncluttered. There is more white as they have removed the solid dotted color surrounding the angel and made the outer border a little smaller. An addition to the backs is the word Bicycle on top and bottom of the backs.

All in all I like most features of this deck. With the ProCut edge being a Pro and Con (Con being spectator can see a card you may have turned over in the deck and the Pro being a natural break.) These ProCut edges may bring some nice possibilities some being its rather easy to pull a DL without a push off especially after trying it a few times.

I would probably rate these a 7.5 on a scale of 1 to 10. I would love to see these backs and a standard face, that would jump the rating to a 9.

The deck is well worth trying out. I would like to hear others opinions on the ProCut beveled edges.

Here are a few High Res photos for you.

Antartica.
Personally I am not a fan of these cards. The back design is bland and the pips in the corners are too far into the card that you cant see anything when performing a fan. All in all, these are not my cup of tea for magic or for flourishing. I am slowly starting to adore my Studs more and more than any other type of card; great back design, standard playing card face, great finish and extremely cheap.

So yeah, I don't like the Pro-Peek...except for what they were made for, poker.

I think one common mistake that people get caught up on with these cards is: People expect these to be good for Magic. This cards are made for Poker, and not much else.
Personally, I love the feel of these bad boys, but would only use them for poker or as a last resort for some of the reasons previously mentioned.

I actually love these cards.
I've turned over a card and even though it does provide the break you promised, i dont see how a spectator would notice, unless you held it up to his face of course:) .
I personally think that these cards have a tad better finish than the normal bikes, though i hate the faces.
Of course this is my opinion :)

Thanks!
