The effect itself is so clean and simple that it's almost TOO good - meaning, this effect NEEDS good presentation to make it believable, because otherwise it's almost too perfect. They can examine the coin, they sign the coin - both sides - you bend it, you visibly BREAK it in half, then they get to KEEP everything? And you can do it in short sleeves? And you start and end clean? What! Amazing. But - because it is so clean, it's essential to have proper presentation to make it real and dramatic. Within the video, Spidey discusses a few different presentations depending on your character. What you choose to do with it is up to you. It's a bit like having real super-human strength.

JB showed this to me not long after I joined theory11 full time (though, it was an earlier version then). It really is a spectacularly cool thing. His statement above is 100% accurate. You impossibly break the coin in half. The effect itself is really that simple. I've been playing with the final product the last couple weeks, and I love it. Such a natural, off-beat, organic feeling trick. You can be sitting with friends waiting for a meal, grab a coin, and go "watch this".

The biggest thing here is performing. You have to sell this trick. Put some theatrics into it! Make it look like you are digging deep for your new super strength, or for your magical power! That will turn this from a cool, unusual novelty into real magic (or a real feat of strength, depending on the direction you are trying to take it). The good news is that Break is easy, so you can focus completely on presentation.

Can it be done with coins other than American pennies? I am in Canada and we no longer have pennies. Love the look of this and hope we can use it here.

I remember JB showing me the early prototypes a long time ago (about a year and a half or two years ago) and I was able to play around with it for a good bit. It is so easy! But like JB said, you have to focus on presentation (which isn't hard because of how easy this is to perform). It almost seems too good to be true, but it isn't. It's exactly as JB described. Examinable, signed, short sleeves - just your bare hands and nothing else. It truly is a remarkable effect in person and it's even more remarkable to be the one performing it. The reactions you will get with this are killer. I am thinking about trying to get back out there and do some busking in my downtown area this summer, and this is the effect I am looking most forward to performing. It's amazing!
