Hey guys,

I know some of you are tuning in to Cardistry Con online this weekend (I know I am!). What are you guys excited to see, and what do you hope to learn from the conference? Really glad to see this happening as a whole and to see how far Cardistry has come over the years. Where do you hope this propels Cardistry in the future? Excited to hear your thoughts!
 
I am very excited for the talk about cardistry as a profession tomorrow. I think that it is not something that can happen within the year, but it could in following years. Besides that, I loved Eliot Slevin's talk and the Practice talk that happened yesterday.

I won't be able to view it. But I am interested in what people see in pure-cardistry (as opposed to hybrid cardistry and magic) to make it lucrative. I agree that it won't happen in a year, and that it could happen years down the road. I'm trying to keep an open mind about it. But I have this skepticism about the individual cardist model won't work. But a cardist combined with other acts CAN work.

And I know that the internet can blur the lines of what one is trying to convey and how it's perceived. But I don't mean to sound snarky or mean when I say this in any sense. But the cardist, to me, sounds like the new juggler. And the juggler is usually in a group of other performers.
Again. Not meant to be mean or rude. If I am wrong in what a cardist can be or what should be, let me know.

I do have a question: Have there been any talks or discussions about progressing cardistry as an art? I'm asking only because I want to contribute the art beyond individual moves. I have a few ideas that I am working on that go in a completely different direction than what cardistry is right now--but I don't think that those ideas would be of much help to progress the art on a large enough scale--if at all. I just want to know what the experienced sorts have to say.
