Hey guys,
I'm looking for a way to paint sponge balls, for a stage routine I'm working on. Does anyone have any suggestions for what paints would be good to use for this process, that would still allow the sponge balls to retain all their useful magic related properties? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I think you would want to dye them as opposed to paint them so that they retain their, um, sponge-ness. Here is a video that is aimed at puppet makers, I believe, that shows a method for dyeing sheets of foam that are similar material to the balls so it should work. I didn't actually have the attention span to watch the entire thing though.

They are already available in a pretty wide verity of colours though, can you not get the colour you need from a magic dealer? I think the standard red may be tricky to dye because they are already so dark.
