You are supposed to buy it, one comes with the dvd when you get it. It's a fairly complex gimmick, so I don't think making one is an option unless you have MacGyver-like skills.
If need be, you can message customer support, and tell them, and they can ship you one out, Im pretty sure they are under $10. www.theory11.com/support

the distortion is an old trick, performed by many magicians before.
It's just recently been renamed and branded by WH.
