It is a very very clever method, I am surprised that Teller had no idea considering it came out of one of his favourite books.

I agree with you SG. Intellectually I realize that it probably wasn't stooged. I'm assuming Penn and Teller would have called him out if it were. Nevertheless, emotionally, it had the "feel" of a stooged effect. He should have sold the spectator selection a little better IMO.
